Resident Evil 4 is about to be released on yet another platform. Though it's been released on everything under the Sun since its debut on the GameCube, there is one place it hasn't yet gotten to: Virtual reality. That's about to change as the much loved survival horror game was just announced for Facebook's Oculus Quest 2 today.
This was announced during this evening's Resident Evil Showcase event. The Quest 2 port of the game will take the third-person action and move it to a first-person perspective. You will actually get to be Leon S. Kennedy as he battles his way through villages and castles.
The Quest 2 version of Resident Evil 4 is being co-developed by Capcom, Oculus Studios, and Armature Studio. More details on this Quest 2 release will happen during the Oculus Gaming Showcase on April 21.
It is important to note here that this is now the second Resident Evil title to be released in VR but not for PC VR devices. The first VR Resident Evil title was Resident Evil 7, which was released in VR for PlayStation VR. It never got a VR update on PC. As the Quest 2 is a standalone device that does not need a PC to function, the chances of Resident Evil 4 VR coming to anything but the Quest 2 seems to be quite slim right now. You could hope that this is a time-limited exclusive or whatever, but I wouldn't exactly hold my breath.

Even though I have PSVR and RE7, which happens to be amazing in VR, i still can't believe it's not been ported to other platforms.
