Black Future '88 is a stylish new rougelike where you have just 18 minutes to live. In those 18 minutes you will get to experience stylish 2D visuals and a pretty great soundtrack, but only on the Nintendo Switch and PC. You can pick up the game for $19.99 (USD) from either the Nintendo eShop or for PC via Steam. Both platforms have an additional 10% off sale until November 28. A physical release on the Switch is out in 2020.
Developer SuperScarySnakes and publisher Good Shepherd Entertainment are calling Black Future '88 a "synth-punk Contra with tons of explosive twists." The game takes place in a world where it's always 1988. You will try to make your way up a procedurally generated tower through tough enemies, tons of bullets, plenty of lasers, and multiple boss fights. All of this is being done in an effort to get revenge on the person who destroyed the world with nuclear fire.
18 minutes is all you get. 18 minutes until your heart explodes. Every time you make progress, you earn more experience and level up towards more and more unlocks. There are also multiple characters with multiple starting abilities and weapons to choose from
Black Future '88 can be played alone or with a friend in two-player local co-op. It does support the newly released Remote Play Together feature on Steam. There is also a global leaderboard and special daily challenges to try.
