Plus PC system requirements were revealed.

There is an upcoming "Versus Tech Test" for Gears 5 coming up very soon. The first test begins on July 19 and will be available for the Xbox One and PC. Of course, there are some limitations here on who will get to participate in the test, so be sure to keep reading for that information.

First up, what exactly is this technical test? It is a "small in-development slice of (their) Versus offering in Gears 5." There will be not one, but two of these tests conducted throughout July. It will allow players to try out three different modes on two different multiplayer maps.

  • Arcade: A new approachable, frenetic Versus experience.
  • Escalation: The pinnacle objective mode of Gears is back and better than ever.
  • King of the Hill: Capture the hill, enjoy the carnage.
In addition, you’ll also get to try out two new features of Gears 5:
  • Bootcamp: Practice your skills and learn new mechanics in our new training mode.
  • Tour Of Duty: Experience a mini Tour of Duty, where you’ll complete Medals to unlock exclusive Tester Weapon Skins to take into Gears 5. Complete all 3 Medals to unlock the exclusive Tester Banner to showcase in Gears 5.
The tests are dated for July 19 at 10AM (PT) until July 22 at 10AM (PT). The next one is from July 26 at 10AM (PT) until July 29 at 10AM (PT). A pre-download of around 15GB in size will be made available starting July 17 at 10AM (PT).

Not everyone will get to participate in the Versus Tech Test, but there are some ways to guarantee that you can get in.

Xbox One owners will need either Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or an active Xbox Game Pass subscription. Alternatively, you will be able to participate if you order the game digitally from the Xbox Store or by redeeming a code provided by participating retailers. You will also need to have an active Xbox Live Gold/Game Pass Ultimate subscription to play online.

Windows 10 users will need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or an Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription. Pre-orders from the Windows Store will also grant you access. Though the game is also coming to Steam, there is no test currently planned that involves that specific platform.

You can look below to see if you meet the minimum spec requirements, the recommended specs, or the ideal spec requirements. Additional details on this technical test can be found on the Gears 5 website.
