Something something "but people are tired of zombie games" something something.
According to reports passed along to the public by Benji-Sales on Twitter, launch week sales of Days Gone has surpassed both God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn in Japan.
According to the report, Days Gone sold over 114,000 units in Japan in its first week of availability. In comparison, Horizon Zero Dawn sold about 116,500 units in its first week. God of War came up well short in the land of the rising Sun, having sold just shy of 51,000 units in its first week.
Days Gone launched globally on April 26. It topped the sales charts in nearly every region, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, and Italy. This was all accomplished despite its less than stellar review scores. Its main competition during its launch week was Mortal Kombat 11, which is quite a bit more of a niche game than Days Gone despite the more familiar franchise name.
