Apple has rejected the iOS version of The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth from the Apple App Store due to "violence towards, or abuse of, children." One of the game's main developers, Tyrone Rodriguez, took to Twitter today to voice his displeasure and share the notification he received from Apple.

Rebirth is an update/sequel to the original Binding of Isaac, and was released on a number of platforms in 2014. The team has been relatively quiet about creating an iOS version of the game, with the last mention coming in 2014 by Edmund McMillen who was quoted as saying, "we are looking into an iOS version if it's not garbage."

The Binding of Isaac is heavily inspired by the Biblical story of Isaac and contains a lot of references to Heaven, Hell, birth, and death. Players go through various procedurally generated "floors" as they fight all manner of creatures. An expansion to Rebirth, affectionately called The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth was released late last year, with more content already planned from the development team.
