Earlier today, Capcom officially announced that they are busy developing Resident Evil 2 Remake. And thus, there was much rejoicing.

As it's being described, Resident Evil 2 Remake will be, as the name implies, a complete remake of the original game but built for modern consoles and PC. The remake will be headed by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, who also served as the producer on Resident Evil HD Remake, which came out this year.

A Capcom representative gave the following public announcement.
"We're pleased to confirm that Resident Evil 2 has been approved for development. As the title is only just starting its development cycle we unfortunately don't have any additional information or assets to share at this time. However, for now we want our fans to know that we appreciate all the feedback and support we've received on this title. We're looking forward to delivering this highly anticipated Resident Evil experience that fans have been waiting for."

The original Resident Evil 2 was produced by Shinji Mikami and directed by Hideki Kamiya. Capcom also has Resident Evil 0 HD coming early next year for the PS4, XB1, and PC.
