By now, most of you have probably already saw that actor Leonard Nimoy passed away today at the age of 83. We all knew him as Spock from Star Trek or from his dozens of other roles he has assumed for the past roughly seven decades. However, many of us probably also knew him as the narrator for Civilization IV.

His familiar voice would read a line or two any time a new technology was discovered. Even after countless hours with the game, hearing those words of wisdom read was always comforting and always signified progress was being made. What you may not know is that he also had a hand in a number of other games throughout the years. Most recently in 2012, Nimoy voiced Master Xehanort in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. This was a reprisal of the same role he had in 2010's Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep.

Of course, Nimoy also voiced the character he made famous in a number of Star Trek titles. In 2010 he voiced Spock Prime for Star Trek Online. In 1992 and 1993, he voiced Spock in two separate titles, Star Trek: 25th Anniversary Enhanced and Star Trek: Judgment Rites respectively.

In 2001, Nimoy voiced the Atlantean King in Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Perhaps his greatest role, however, came in 1999 when he served as the narrator for Seaman.

Thank you Leonard Nimoy for helping to entertain literally generations of fans not just through your film and television career but also through the games you helped bring to life. Rest in peace.
