Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will officially launch on October 28, 2022. This follow-up to the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Those of you playing on PC now have a choice between buying the game through Battle.net or Steam.
This is some rather big news for Steam fans today because the Call of Duty franchise has been absent from the service starting back with the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in 2018. From 2018 onwards, all of the Call of Duty titles were limited to being available only through the Battle.net client, meaning Steam users missed out on Black Ops 4, Modern Warfare, Warzone, Black Ops Cold War, and Vanguard.
The return to Steam is not without some caveats though.
Activision is pricing all versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 starting at $69.99 (USD). This is the base price for the game no matter which platform you purchase it on, including on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as those are "Cross-Gen Bundle" editions that also grant players access to the next-gen release should they ever make the leap to new hardware.
Naturally, there is also a more expensive "Vault Edition" of the game which is priced at $99.99. This edition includes the "Red Team 141 Operator Pack" that includes: Ghost, Soap, Farah, and Price. It also includes FJX Cinder which is the "first-ever Weapon Vault" whatever that means, plus access to the first season's Battle Pass along with 50 tier skips.
