  • Battlefield 6 Leak Shows Return of Battlefield 1 Mud Buildup Feature

    War is messy.

In Battlefield 1, there was an immersive feature that you may not have really thought much about. When crawling through trenches and across the muddy terrain, your weapons would start to accumulate a thick layer of muck and grime. It had no actual gameplay impact but it was certainly a neat little touch that helped to make the player feel more immersed in the game.

This mud buildup feature was sadly absent from Battlefield 2042. Of course, there were a lot of things that were sadly absent from Battlefield 2042, especially near that game's launch. I honestly cannot remember if mud buildup on weapons was a thing even in Battlefield V.

Now with Battlefield 6 just around the corner, it looks like those muddy weapons will be making a return. A new leaked gameplay clip from someone in Battlefield Labs for Battlefield 6 has appeared in r/Battlefield on Reddit. It shows a gun fully caked out in mud, which is a very fitting look given the level of destruction and upturned landscape the player is fighting in.

Further down in the comments, the original poster provided two comparison shots. The first show shows what the weapon looks like when first spawning in. The second shot shows an advanced buildup of muck and grime after being deployed in the battle and rolling around in the mud for a bit.

A very clean looking weapon in Battlefield 6. A very dirty looking weapon, caked with mud, in Battlefield 6.

If mud buildup wasn't enough for you, the poster of the Reddit thread also noted that blood splatter will also appear on the gun when the player is shot.

Recently, were were treated to some official news from the Battlefield teams. The studios at Electronic Arts took to social media to explain how the Assault Ladder will function in Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 will be out on October 10, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Elden Ring Update 1.07 Adds Separate Damage Scaling for PvP
      by Shawn Zipay
      Update 1.07 introduces a long-requested fan feature.

The 1.07 update for Elden Ring went live earlier today. With it came a number of changes, the biggest of which is the separation of PvE and PvP damage scaling. This means that for the first time, FromSoftware is separating the PvE and PvP aspects of the game. It is also a feature that Souls fans have been requesting for years now as PvE combat is a very different beast than PvP combat.

There are now separate damage scaling...

Battlefield 6 Reviews - Solid Multiplayer, Terrible Single Player Campaign
      by Shawn Zipay
The multiplayer more than makes up for the "dull" campaign.

The initial batch of reviews for Battlefield 6 indicate that yes, Battlefield is back! This is assuming you ignore the "short," "disappointing," and "dull" single player campaign. At least the multiplayer component seems to more than make up for the massively disappointing campaign.

The average critical score on OpenCritic for Battlefield 6 is 84% with 92% of all critics...
