Electronic Arts announced "the most ambitious community testing program in franchise history" for Battlefield 6 today. EA, alongside the developer collective of Battlefield Studios, invite players to join Battlefield Labs to help shape the development of the next Battlefield title ahead of release.
Electronic Arts says that the first phase of Battlefield Labs testing is set to go live in the coming weeks. Fans of the Battlefield franchise can express their interest in joining Battlefield Labs right now. Just be warned that there is presently well over an hour long queue to register, depending on what time you read this. The initial tests will see invitations sent out to players in Europe and North America with future global testing regions planned for a future date.
Throughout the entire testing period, the community will see published updates from the Battlefield Studios teams. These updates will not be restricted to only those in the test group but will be published to the public so that everybody can see how the feedback is being used and what changes are being implemented during the development process. EA says that "all the feedback provided during Battlefield Labs tests will influence the development of the next Battlefield title and beyond."
Battlefield Studios is comprised of several different studios under the Electronic Arts umbrella. They include the studios of DICE (Battlefield creators), Ripple Effect (a studio made of franchise veterans working on an all-new experience for Battlefield), Motive (developer behind Star Wars Squadrons and Dead Space), and Criterion (known for racing franchises and support for several Battlefield entries).
Today's announcement came bundled with a video featuring the studio leads of DICE, Motive, Criterion, and Ripple Effect. They, alongside Vince Zampella and Byron Beede, share a few more details about the Battlefield Labs program.
"I’ve been playing Battlefield long before I joined the team," says Vince Zampella, Head of Respawn & Group GM for EA Studios Organization. "This game has so much potential. To find that potential, with us being pre-alpha, now is the time to test the experiences our teams have been building for our upcoming launch. Battlefield Labs empowers our teams to do that."
