DICE and EA let the cat out of the bag today for Battlefield 2042 Season 3, Escalation. This new Season, which begins on November 22, will include a bunch of new content that should be familiar to those who have seen what has been added in the previous two seasons already. There's a new map, new Specialist, new tank, new weapons, the Specialist rework, and more. There is, naturally, also a new 100-tier Battle Pass to work through be it through the free path or the premium one which will net you more rewards.
The new map for Season 3 is called Spearhead. This map features semi-automated manufacturing facilities that make high-tech weaponry. This map takes place in DICE's home country of Sweden. It remains to be seen if the map will include a large furniture store, meatballs, fish, banana pizza, Julmust, or a giant flamable goat made of straw. Also coming in Season 3 is new Specialist, Rasheed Zain. Zain will utilize the XM370A Airburst Rifle to get people out of cover. Zain is also capable of immediately recharging his health after eliminating an enemy.
New weapons and vehicles are coming as well. These include the Rorsch Mk-4 Railgun which has multiple firing mode. There is also a double-barreled semi-auto NVK-S22 Smart Shotgun. The NVK-P125 Bullpup Pistol is said to be "ideal for long distance encounters." Those who like to throw sharp things will be happy to hear that there will now also be Throwing Knives added in the new season.
For mobility, the EMKV90-TOR Tank is another new addition. This tank has two modes: Mobility and Siege. Siege will sacrifice movement and speed abilities in favor of being able to "deal immense damage." The tank's HUD will also display the source of incoming attacks within a range around its area.
Vault Weapons being added this season include the XM8 and A-91. DICE says there will be more added throughout the season as well. As usual, you will need to complete some relatively easy assignments to unlock them for use in All Out Warfare.
Season 3: Escalation will also include the big Specialist rework. This includes adding each Specialist into distinct Classes alongside a bunch of balance adjustments. There will also be reworks of Manifest and Breakaway coming in Season 3.
Finally, Battlefield 2042 will have some free gameplay periods coming in December. Xbox and Steam will let people play for a few days starting December 1. PlayStation's free access starts December 16.
If you are an EA Play subscriber on PlayStation, Xbox, or PC then you should know that Battlefield 2042 will be added as one of the titles you have unlimited access to starting with Season 3. This includes those who have access to EA Play through Game Pass Ultimate on PC and Xbox.
