  • Next Battlefield Might Bring Back the Single Player Campaign

A job listing could hint at the return of the Battlefield campaign.
    Battlefield 4 campaign

A new job listing was recently spotted over the past weekend. According to said job listing, Battlefield Seattle Studio is looking for a design director that will "manage the design team and design vision of a new Battlefield campaign."

This "Battlefield Seattle Studio" seems to be the studio being formed by Marcus Lehto. In December 2021, we learned that Lehto was forming a new studio for EA that would be "focused on injecting more storytelling into the Battlefield universe."

Lehto previously worked for Bungie and is responsible for designing Master Chief and is responsible for co-creating Halo in the first place.

A look at what this design director will do at Lehto's studio can be read below. If you still want some extra Battlefield news, you can always check out the 1.1.0 patch notes for the update that will drop on July 6 for Battlefield 2042.

Role Overview: Reporting to the studio GM, you will manage the design team and design vision of a new Battlefield campaign. Your job is to orchestrate the mission design, narrative, game mechanics, and systems to create the highest quality experience possible. You foster relationships with creative, engineering, and production to create an inclusive design team.

Your job is to embrace the core tenets of the Battlefield franchise and make sure they are woven through all layers of a masterfully designed single player campaign. You will build the studio's design team and culture and build an amazing campaign from concept through release. You are also responsible for leading iteration of the product design based on feedback from peers, company partners, and team members while holding to the core vision.

Battlefield Game Director Marcus Lehto Leaves EA and Ridgeline Games
      by Shawn Zipay
No statement has been made by either EA or Lehto.

Marcus Lehto is no longer working at Ridgeline Games, the studio that Electronic Arts created in 2021 to focus on a new Battlefield narrative campaign following the initial lackluster response to Battlefield 2042. Fans on the Battlefield 2042 subreddit were the first to notice that Lehto recently changed his Twitter biography.

Lehto's Twitter bio used to read "Game Director @Battlefield Narrative @EA" before...

Battlefield 6 Reviews - Solid Multiplayer, Terrible Single Player Campaign
      by Shawn Zipay
The multiplayer more than makes up for the "dull" campaign.

The initial batch of reviews for Battlefield 6 indicate that yes, Battlefield is back! This is assuming you ignore the "short," "disappointing," and "dull" single player campaign. At least the multiplayer component seems to more than make up for the massively disappointing campaign.

The average critical score on OpenCritic for Battlefield 6 is 84% with 92% of all critics...

Battlefield Teams Get Major Overhaul from EA
      by Shawn Zipay
EA says they are restructuring its development teams as it looks to "grow Battlefield."

Battlefield 2042 is a bad game and you should not buy it. That seems to be the prevailing thought from most fans who have played the game for any length of time since its release just a couple of days back. It's a game that is full of bugs, barren maps, idiotic Specialists, a huge focus on vehicular combat, and more missing "legacy" features than you can shake a stick at....
