  • DICE Working on Battlefield 4 Patch to Fix One Hit Kill Bug, EMP Blur Effect, and Loss of Sound Bug

Oh. My. God. DICE has revealed that the next patch is already in the works for the PC version of Battlefield 4. Notably, they are looking into a few items that the community has given them some feedback on including the horrendous EMP blur effect, the one hit kill bug, and the loss of sound on a few maps such as on Golmud Railway!
The next PC update is in the works, and we are tracking to fix a few items you have given us feedback on.

Specifically, we are looking at the Commander EMP blur effect that you have noticed, as well as the intermittent sound bug that happens most frequently on the Golmud Railway map.

While we don’t have a solid date for this patch just yet, we just wanted to let you know some of the things we’re looking at right now (besides increasing stability overall.)

Finally, Youtuber jackfrags sent us a great video where he demonstrates the so-called "one hit kill bug," where it looks like weapons sometimes deal too much damage (although the real issue might be more complex.) We are reproducing this bug and working to fix it as soon as possible.

It's almost as if Christmas is coming early for Battlefield 4 fans! Now, just get rid of snipers, the screen fade in when respawning (or at least add in spawn protection), and the sometimes questionable netcode/hit detection and we're all set! Alright, the sniper thing is just a personal request.

Cool, glad they can get fixes rolled out for these issues.

Totally agree. The beta was actually remarkably more stable than the release, I only occasionally had CTD bugs with beta, but I never encountered the looping bug issue or the random "Oh yeah Punkbuster randomly decided it should start enforcing things now, but your firewall isn't allowing it-LOLKICKTODESKTOP!!"

As the sound bug is mostly on Golmud Railway it is hard to fix it when the Beta was only Shanghai.

I am most annoyed by the game freezing between maps. But that either relates to IE or to the server. I do not think that is the game in itself.

I get crash to desktop every so often but I'm often able to play 6-7 games in a row first, for about 4-5 hours of playtime. And when it does crash, it's usually only 1 or 2 minutes into a round so I haven't lost that much.

The one hit kill bug and the 'screen blur' effect are what I really want to see fixed honestly.

Which is why I didn't mention that bug as not being in the beta. The looping sound crash/lockup bug is something else entirely and is/was not dependent on map. I hesitate to say that looping sound bug is gone because while I haven't experienced it since the last patch, someone I play with has experienced it quite often since that last patch.
