During today's Developer_Direct for Xbox, Playground Games shared an extended look at the upcoming Fable. We were given a much better look at many of the game's systems and mechanics as well as a good look at gameplay.
First up is word that Fable is targeting a release this fall on Xbox Series X|S, Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Cloud, and Game Pass. An exact date isn't known but at least it's narrowed down a bit.
During this Developer_Direct we saw how the story begins in new Fable. We saw some combat. We also saw a little on the character creation and customization. To think that people really thought you wouldn't be able to have a custom character in a Fable game.
Of course, there is still a morality system in play. There will also be several choices available through the game that will shape not just the story, but what people think of you, and even the landscape of the game world itself. Become a landlord and get rent payment or evict the tenants so they live out on the streets. Kick chickens. All of this and more will be done in a true open-world fantasy setting with several diverse locations to explore.
Naturally, there will be plenty of that "dry British wit" to decipher throughout your adventure.
Yeah, the new Fable certainly seems like it's a Fable game through and through. For fans of the series, this is most definitely a good thing to see.
