  • Ground of Aces Enters Early Access

    Base building in WW2.

Ground of Aces from Blindflug Studios just entered into Steam Early Access today. This game invites players to take on the role of a British air base commander during the Battle of Britain. It just so happens that this is releasing on the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Ground of Aces will have you building, expanding, and defending your air base. You will also have to manage pilots, aircraft, and critical missions in order to help the war effort. The devs at Blindflug Studios say that this game "is inspired by free form base building games like Rimworld and Going Medieval, as well as historical strategy games like Hearts of Iron IV."

The art style will pay homage to the “ligne claire” style of Franco-Belgian comics like Biggles and Buck Danny.

“I’m absolutely thrilled that we’re able to launch Ground of Aces into Early Access right on time for the 85th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Britain,” says Executive Producer Moritz Zumbühl.

“This game is a true passion project for our team – it brings together our love for aviation, World War II, and the base-building genre in a unique title. The demo already received fantastic feedback, and we’re excited to continue developing Ground of Aces together with the community during Early Access. We can’t wait to hear what the fans think!”

The Early Access version features the British Royal Air Force as the first playable faction and offers a selection of 14 iconic British aircraft that players can collect and manage for their base. As development continues, players can expect regular updates that expand the scope and depth of the game.

The main pillars of Ground of Aces:
    • Engulf yourself in the Second World War: Lead a Royal Air Force airfield during the Battle of Britain, collect iconic World War II aircraft, and defend your base from aerial threats.
    • A base builder at heart: Design and expand your air base with complete freedom. Your base is laid out by your own choices and thus unique.
    • A dream for aviation enthusiasts: Take command of a fleet of historically significant aircraft. Carefully select the right planes for each mission, maintain your fleet, and ensure your base is always ready for action.
    • Your crew’s personal stories: Your crew is more than just numbers—they are individuals shaped by war. Witness their struggles and triumphs, and feel the weight of every loss.
