A new update for Fallout 76 will bring about a feature that every good MMO has: Fishing. Fallout 76: Gone Fission (get it?) will release on June 3rd as a free update to all players. Several new fishing spots will be added around the Wasteland where you can explore and cast out your line in hopes of snagging the big one.
Players will need to do a little questline first in order to secure their first fishing rod. You will be able to fish anywhere that you can swim. Different fish will show up depending on facts like the bait used, weather conditions, fishing rod used, and location. You'll be able to find a lot of common fish, maybe one of 12 unique Axolotls available each month, and Local Legends.
The fish you catch are able to be eaten immediately to restore health and hunger. You can also convert the fish into Fish Bits and cooked into recipes for additional benefits. You can also "share a snack with Linda-Lee, the giant hermit crab of Fishermen's Rest, to receive a Legendary item."
This update coincides with the start of Season 21, also named Gone Fission. This season includes fishing challenges and rewards such as fishing rod upgrades, new C.A.M.P. items, and more.
