Xbox made a somewhat surprising announcement in the early afternoon hours on January 30. The racing franchise best associated with the Xbox brand, Forza, is coming to PlayStation 5. This all begins this spring when Forza Horizon 5 releases on PlayStation 5. Forza Horizon 5's PS5 port is being handled by Panic Button with help from Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games.
The PlayStation 5 release of Forza Horizon 5 will have the benefit of including all of the game's previous updates, two expansions (Hot Wheels and Rally Adventure), Car Packs, and all of the base game content. Cross-play functionality will be in place, allowing for Forza Horizon 5 players on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC to race around a vast, virtual version of Mexico together.
In addition to this PS5 release, the studios are busy working on a special free content update for all platforms. This new update will introduce players to Horizon Realms, "a curated collection of some of the community's favorite previously released Evolving Worlds, alongside some other surprises."
PlayStation 5 owners can add Forza Horizon 5 to their Wishlist to be informed of when the game is put up for sale and released. Now there's a sentence I never expected that I would be typing out even a year ago.
