Rebel Wolves just revealed their first ever look at a game they've been working on for the past couple of years. The game is called The Blood of Dawnwalker and it's aiming to be a big ol' dark fantasy action-RPG. It's being built on Unreal Engine 5, is said to feature non-linear quests, and takes places in medieval Europe. Oh, and there are a lot of vampires.
Rebel Wolves is a studio formed in February 2022. Some of the roughly 90 or so members of Rebel Wolves previously worked at CD Projekt Red. This includes Rebel Wolves CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, a director on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and head of production on Cyberpunk 2077. Tomaszkiewicz left CDPR in May 2021 after workplace bullying allegations were made against him. A lengthy investigation found Tomaszkiewicz not guilty. However, at that point it seemed like plans were already in motion for Tomaszkiewicz to leave CDPR and form Rebel Wolves.
Today, that studio shared their first ever look at The Blood of Dawnwalker. Today's reveal was a lot of talking from the developers, which probably isn't too interesting for a lot of people out there. They also shared a look at the tone that they're going for with a CGI trailer. There was also like five seconds of in-engine footage shown right at the very end of today's livestream.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is said to be the "first chapter of a brand new role-playing saga." Apparently, future titles are already being thought about despite this first entry not yet having a release date.
