Staff at Rocksteady shared news with Eurogamer that several employees have been laid off. The reason cited by management was due to a "restructuring," which is the usual generic reason given for pretty much all of these industry layoffs.
The latest title from Rocksteady is none other than Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The game vastly underperformed in terms of sales and review scores. By some accounts, the failure of Suicide Squad was a major contributor towards a $200 million hit to the revenue of Warner Bros. earlier this year.
One of the departments hit was Rocksteady's quality assurance (QA) department. The team went from 33 members down to 15 over the past month. Other departments outside of QA were also impacted, but the extent to which other departments have been impacted are not known. Some staff members have been posting publicly on social media over this past weekend saying that they were made redundant. One employee in particular say that they were laid off in the middle of paternity leave.
