Good news for survival horror fans looking for something beyond the usual suspects. The upcoming third-person survival horror game, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, is set to be released on August 30 of this year. This prequel to Daymare: 1998, will be out on this date for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Those who haven't played Daymare: 1998, can look forward to a PC demo for Daymare 1994: Sandcastle arriving May 11. This demo will include a few of the early beats of the main story while giving players a look at some of the gameplay mechanics, visuals, and combat abilities. Feedback and suggestions from the demo will be considered by the developers at Invader Studios to help with fine-tuning before the game's full release in August.
As you can probably tell by the titles of the games, the upcoming Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is prequel to Daymare: 1998. In this new game, you take on the role of special agent Dalila Reyes, "a former government spy now in the service of the H.A.D.E.S. (Hexacore Advanced Division for Extraction and Search) unit. She is tasked with entering into the most advanced experimental research center in the United States.
The original Daymare: 1998 wasn't exactly a AAA quality game (but then again, neither are some AAA games these days) but it was definitely a fun romp. You can tell it pulls a ton of inspiration from some of the original survival horror games like the Resident Evil titles.
The announcement trailer seen below is from roughly a year ago so some things may have changed in the game since it debuted.
In a massive effort to meet & match the high expectations of the community and lovers of the franchise, Leonardo Interactive decided to move to August the final game release.
