It's like Honey I Shrunk the Kids but not.

Grounded is the latest game from Obsidian Entertainment. Though still in Early Access on both PC and Xbox, it's already getting the television series treatment. Deadline reports that the survival game in which you try to survive in your own backyard will be turned into a TV series by Star Wars: Clone Wars writer Brent Friedman. The director will be Brien Goodrich, who previously served as the cinematics director on both Halo 4 and Halo 5.

The show will at least follow the same basic premise as the game. Four kids are shrunk down to the size of a bug and are tasked with trying to survive in the backyard. Naturally, there will be plenty of dangers in the backyard that typically go unseen when normal sized, like giant spiders. There is also apparently a "vast corporate conspiracy threatening their entire town" that the kids will have the kids trying to seek out the truth.

“We couldn’t be more excited about diving into the whimsical universe of Grounded. This partnership will be one of great collaboration, expanding on an already wonderful journey of exploration and adventure,” said Tina Chow, CEO, Bardel Entertainment.

“The team at Obsidian have created an incredible world that has already grabbed the attention of the gaming community. We are excited to work with our incredible partners to bring the story to life in an animated series, added Carl Whiteside, MD, WP/SC Productions.
Grounded was released into Early Access back in 2020 and has apparently pulled in over 10 million players through Steam, Xbox, and Game Pass. The non-Early Access release for Grounded is slated for one of the 30 days in September of this year.

Brent Friedman is also adapting Earthworm Jim into a series. Now that is a hell of a deep pull considering there hasn't been a new Earthworm Jim release in about 23 years.
