Follows a string of terrible hardware launches.
GeForce RTX 3070

Nvidia announced today that the launch of the RTX 3070 has been delayed. The card was slated to be released on October 15, 2020 but will now instead be released on Thursday, October 29th.

The reason for the delay stems from Nvidia's desire to have more cards available on launch day. This move will also allow Nvidia's AIB partners to get more cards available for the global launch.

This move is 100% in response to the disastrous continued launch of the RTX 3090 and, more notably, the RTX 3080. These cards are perpetually out of stock mere milliseconds after any stock arrives at etailers and retailers. The cards are facing a severe supply shortage in comparison to the massive demand. Seriously, I'm actually impressed with how poor this launch has been for the RTX 3080. It was the near very definition of a "paper launch."

A number of would-be consumers have been begging stores to set up some sort of a pre-order system akin to what Valve has done for the Index. However, no stores have done any such thing yet.

The release of the RTX 3070 promises to deliver performance that is similar or faster than the more expensive RTX 2080 Ti, or roughly 60% faster than the RTX 2070. The RTX 3070 will retail for $499 (USD) when it launches on the 29th.
