  • Triad Wars Beta Closing Down in January

On January 20, 2016, Triad Wars will officially close up shop. Specifically, the beta for the game will come to an end. There game will not actually be released. What was Triad Wars? It was a weird online game that tasked you with trying to build up your own empire while attacking others in the same city area. It was like Sleeping Dogs but if Sleeping Dogs was a bad game.

But none of that really matters now because Square Enix and United Front Games are pulling the plug.
“Since the start of the Triad Wars Closed Beta this year, diligent Enforcers have run rampant through the streets of Hong Kong, killing rivals and building Empires. During this time we have gathered immense amounts of feedback, information, and data on the game. We’ve loved seeing how you’ve played Triad Wars but we know it wasn’t right for many of you so we’re letting you know today that we are going to close the beta and service on January 20th 2016 at 12 p.m. Pacific Standard Time. That’s 4 weeks from today and over this time we’re going to leave the game up and running for you to continue to enjoy but we will not be accepting any more purchases. To help you enjoy these final 4 weeks we’re going to make Gold available free of charge and we’ll shortly be posting news on the forums about how to deal with refunds of unused Gold. Thank you very much for all the testing, feedback and support!”

So long, Triad Wars, we hardly knew ye. With any luck, Square Enix and UFG will shift their focus onto creating Sleeping Dogs 2 because man, that first game was great!

Triad wars was ridiculous. It could have been something much better, had they not make a singleplayer game with a multiplayer "gimmick". You never actually interacted with other players or even saw them.
If it was something more like GTA or APB, then it could have flourished and be something really cool. But in truth it had even less than something out of one of those old browser MMOBG games
