As Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 nears its November 16 (at 8AM PT) release date, Activision is taking the first Call of Duty: Warzone offline. Warzone will be down for a period of 12 days so that the team can focus on getting the sequel launched and situated in a stable state. Once Warzone 2.0 is in a good spot, the plan is to bring the first Warzone back online on November 28 at 10AM (PT).
The 12 day time period also includes some holiday time off for employees to celebrate Thanksgiving.
Once it returns, the first Warzone will be renamed as Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera. Those who enjoy Warzone can also always just check out Warzone 2.0 during that downtime period. Activision says that there will be some compensation items given to Warzone 2.0 players that played the original release. Sadly, player cosmetics that were earned or unlocked in the first Warzone will not carry over to Warzone 2.0. The two games are considered to be totally separate.
Warzone 2.0’s weapons, progression, and inventory systems will be tied to the new Modern Warfare II content and systems. This is due to a combination of feedback from the community, technical limitations, and a need to simplify the next and newest Warzone to create a seamless player experience moving forward.
