Giant's Shadow - Battlefield 1 Patch Notes for December 13
The patch notes for tomorrow's (December 13) update for Battlefield 1 were released earlier than normal. Typically, we're sitting here waiting for the patch notes to drop hours after the actual update is out. Not so for this one!
This is the "Giant's Shadow" update. A new map arrives that places you in the Battle of Selle on a cold autumn day in 1918. Of course, despite this map pack being free, those with Premium will still get it early (tomorrow), while the rest have to wait until December 20.
This update will include some non-time gated content too. This includes a Spectator Mode, a new game setting that gives everyone a bolt-action rifle (yay, historical accuracy), and plenty of changes and balancing for classes, vehicles, maps, and more. It has a Model 10-A nerf (how this wasn't done before is a mystery). It has a fix for 'some' DirectX 11 hanging issues. It's got a little bit of everything!... -

EA Says No New Battlefield for a "Couple of Years"
It looks like Battlefield fans will have to be content with what is available to them for the next couple of years. EA said that they will not release another entry in the franchise for at least a "couple of years." EA CFO, Blake Jorgensen, confirmed this while speaking at the NASDAQ 35th Investor Program. He said that EA "won't have another Battlefield back for a couple of years. Next year we'll have Battlefront, the Star Wars game." Right now, the only major plans for ... -

Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline players will also get some missions and XP events but they're old hat now. The focus for this Battlefest is on playing the objective. I hear you laughing, please stop. In addition to these festivities, Hardcore Mode was also added to the game today... -

Battlefield 1 Fall Update Released; Causing Issues for Some Users
The Fall update for Battlefield 1 was released earlier today across all available platforms. The changelog is massive and includes tons of fixes, balancing, and changes to the game. The problem is it also seems to cause some issues for a number of users.
Players have reported a drastic increase in texture flickering with this update in addition to a number of crashes. Others that have updated their Nvidia drivers have also reported less performance from previous drivers. Good... -

Battlefield 1 Twitter Pulls Tasteless #justWWIthings Campaign
This past weekend, the Battlefield 1 Twitter account sent out a number of controversial Tweets under the hashtag of #justWWIthings. A couple of examples can be seen above and below.
Given the rather somber tone of most of the game's single player, a fact that has been praised in numerous reviews, it comes off as a bit tasteless to go with this sort of Twitter campaign. It took a bit of time, but the Battlefield Twitter account did eventually pull the Tweets. An apology ... -

Squad "Mutiny" Feature Coming Back to Battlefield 1
One thing that Battlefield 1 seems to lack are squad leaders that actually lead the squad. How often have you sat and requested orders from your leader only to receive none? It's probably a lot.
Fortunately, DICE is aware that people want the mutiny feature back. A DICE developer posting on Reddit said that the feature from Battlefield 4 will be making a return very soon.
Heya, this is one of the most requested features. It will be fixed in one of the upcoming patches.... -

DICE Changes How You Earn Medals in Battlefield 1
Earning medals in Battlefield 1 just got a little bit more... different. Those who know what medals are or how to earn them in a Battlefield game may want to take a seat here, because DICE is changing up the tried and true formula. They say that they're giving players more freedom to choose which medals they go after, but are limiting the achievable medals to just five a week.
That sounds a little backwards, right?
Battlefield veterans will notice some changes in how... -
