Today, Microsoft is laying off 2.1% of its workforce. This equates to 4,800 people that are being let go. The company's XBOX division is cutting about 20% of its entire workforce. All of this is being done in an effort to cut costs due to rising prices and expenses brought about by artificial intelligence (AI).
Starting January 2028, Sony will no longer produce physical discs for new PlayStation game releases. All games released in January 2028 and after will be available only through digital stores such as the PlayStation Store.
Sony attempts to justify this move by claiming it's a "natural direction" in order to "adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs."...

The cybersecurity company Kaspersky has issued a warning about malware being spread through Steam Workshop files for Wallpaper Engine. Malware, hidden through user uploaded wallpaper packages, can lead to issues such as hijacked Steam accounts, the installation of backdoors to a user's PC, or even hidden crypto mining processes.

Bungie is calling it quits on Destiny 2. The Sony owned Marathon developer announced the final live-service content update for Destiny 2. Today's announcement was a long time coming and one that most fans saw the writing on the wall for months ago.
That final content update for Destiny 2, Monument of Triumph, takes place on June 9, 2026. Bungie says that they will begin a "new journey as a studio" on that date with includes working on their...
This is Diablo 4 at its best. I mean it this time. For real.
Returning to the world of Sanctuary for this latest chapter feels like a true homecoming for those of us who have spent hundreds of hours traversing its dark and unforgiving landscapes since the base game launched back in 2023. The release of the Lord of Hatred expansion marks a significant step forward in the narrative that was originally set in motion during the initial campaign and furthered by the events of the Vesse...
How to Fix Broken Mouse Movement in Battlefield 2042
DICE somehow totally broke mouse aiming in Update #3.
If you downloaded Update #3 for Battlefield 2042, and found yourself unable to aim left or right on the PC, you aren't alone. DICE somehow broke mouse aiming as part of the rollout for their latest update.
DICE has publicly acknowledged their blunder and have listed a potential fix under their Live Service Alerts.
Their suggestion is to restore all default settings by going to My Documents > Battlefield...
DICE Did Not Fix the Battlefield 2042 Revolver Reload
When a six-shooter turns into a five-shooter.
One of the (several) bugs included in Battlefield 2042 was an issue involving the M44 sidearm. Prior to today's release of Update #3, the gun had a very odd issue with how reloading was handled.
At release, a reload of the gun when empty would only reload five rounds. The problem is, there are six rounds in the chamber. You can see it during the reload animation. The gun is supposed to have six rounds and you have 18 rounds...
EA Wants to Create a 'Connected Battlefield Universe'
EA wants to take a Call of Duty approach to the Battlefield franchise.
As part of its major overhaul to the Battlefield development teams, EA also says that they are looking to create a "connected Battlefield universe." The major publisher wants to expand upon the franchise much like Activision has done with the Call of Duty franchise. Taken at face value, this could indicate that EA wants to have multiple studios create Battlefield games and experiences on a more regular...
EA says they are restructuring its development teams as it looks to "grow Battlefield."
Battlefield 2042 is a bad game and you should not buy it. That seems to be the prevailing thought from most fans who have played the game for any length of time since its release just a couple of days back. It's a game that is full of bugs, barren maps, idiotic Specialists, a huge focus on vehicular combat, and more missing "legacy" features than you can shake a stick at....
A changelog that rivals the length of a CVS Pharmacy receipt.
Battlefield 2042 is in a sad state, even following the release of Update #2 just last week. We all knew that Update #3 was coming and that it would be far more substantial than Update #2 was. Today, DICE released the changelog for Battlefield 2042 Update #3 and it is a long one.
The length of this changelog almost makes you think that maybe this game shouldn't have been released when it was. And you know what?...
As promised, DICE rolled out Update #2 for Battlefield 2042 today. Though not as substantial as the upcoming Update #3, today's update introduces some very welcome adjustments.
For instance, DICE has reduced the bullet spread on all weapons (except shotguns). This should mean that weapons beyond the PP-29 and SVK are actually viable to use now. I haven't tested them myself yet, but the reception to these initial adjustments...
DICE Details Two Updates Worth of Battlefield 2042 Fixes
The studio provides a roadmap of the next two updates.
To say that Battlefield 2042 is in dire need of a lot of attention would be a severe understatement. This game launched in a far worse state than even the infamous Battlefield 4. To list every issue present with the release version of Battlefield 2042 would take far too long. Besides, I've already included several lists pointing out broken or missing features in previous news postings about the game since its release.

Battlefield 2042 is Available and Getting Destroyed in Steam Reviews
Hit the battlefield, if you dare.
EA and DICE announce today that the latest entry in their popular FPS franchise is now available. That's right, Battlefield 2042 is now available to everyone regardless of which version they purchased. This should be cause for celebration, right? Uh, well, maybe not. We'll get to that in a moment.
If you are still undecided about Battlefield 2042, here's the rundown for the game from today's press release announcement.
Battlefield 2042 has been available for those that ponied up the big bucks for the Gold or Ultimate editions, priced at $89.99 (USD) and $109.99 respectively. The standard edition of the game is slated to be released in about a day from now on November 19. To say that the game needs a ton of work would be a gross understatement.
The only hope was the promised "Day 1" patch for the game that was said to arrive just prior to the standard...

Yeah, I forgot about this month's poll, so what?

Yeah, got a bit of a late Poll of the Month for you today. I meant to change this a week ago then totally forgot. So uh, let's think of a question, shall we?
I got it!
With Battlefield 2042 coming out this month, and this kind of still being somewhat focused on Battlefield news, the question is: What game mode in Battlefield 2042 will you play first?

Nvidia Released a Battlefield 2042 Trailer Showcasing DLSS, Ray Tracing, and Bad Framerates
Maybe this trailer wasn't the best idea from any of the parties involved?
The recent trailers for Battlefield 2042 have been real hit or miss. Today's technical showcase video that Nvidia and DICE put out is a bit on the miss side of things.
Today's latest trailer shows off some of the PC-exclusive features that will be available to those with the still impossible to find high-end Nvidia cards. Battlefield 2042 will support Nvidia DLSS, Nvidia Reflex, and even ray tracing....
Was 2025 a big year for game completions for you, or were you more of a "stick to one never-ending, live-service game for the entire year" sort of player?
For this, you can take whatever definition you want as a game "completion." Beat the main story? Earned 100% of the game's achievements? Or simply played enough that you're satisfied with what you accomplished and have no plans to return any time...
