Battlefield 2042 is bringing back a classic character from an earlier game in the franchise. Actor Michael K. Williams is reprising his role as Kimble "Irish" Graves from Battlefield 4 as a Specialist in Battlefield 2042. EA made this reveal today during a special live-action short film called Exodus.

In Battlefield 4, Irish was a U.S. Marine that was a member of the Tombstone squad. Though Battlefield 2042 doesn't have a single player campaign, the character will play a big part in the wider story.

Irish is one of the game's selectable Specialists. He is classified as an Engineer. He is more of a defensive character that can create barriers and help shield his teammates from incoming attacks. There will be a Battle Hardened skin released for Irish for those that pre-order the game. So far, he is the fifth specialists officially revealed by DICE and EA. There will be a total of 10 Specialists shipping with the game.

Irish was revealed through a new short film, Exodus. This is a live-action short that helps to shed even more light on the game's story. The story focuses on various factions of "ex-pats" that are vying for control in the near future.

Battlefield 2042 is slated to arrive on October 22 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. It will ship alongside Battlefield Portal which is a sandbox mode incorporating maps, soldiers, vehicles, and weapons from the previous games in the franchise.

The release of Battlefield 2042 on November 19th should have been a joyous occasion for fans of the franchise. Instead, what the world received was a broken mess of a game that has long-standing "legacy" features removed, barren maps, and a tone that was often at odds with itself. Even after receiving three major post-launch updates, there is very...
