  • FBC: Firebreak Now Available

Just another day on the job.
A small group of players take on a paranatural threat of a sticky note monster.

Remedy Entertainment just released FBC: Firebreak today, a three-player co-op FPS where you try to take control back against an escalating paranatural threat.

In FBC: Firebreak, you work within the Federal Bureau of Control's first-response unit. It's this unit that attempts to take care of containing escalating paranatural threats within the FBC's ever-shifting headquarters, the Oldest House.

FBC: Firebreak is available on Steam, Epic, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 for $39.99. It's also available for Game Pass and PlayStation Plus Game Catalog (Extra and Premium) if you already subscribe to either of those services.

Remedy is also kicking off a six-part miniseries starting June 19th that talks about "Surviving the Workplace." You can check out an introduction video for the series below, as hosted by Jerry Standish, "a nerdy bureaucrat from the Federal Bureau of Control."

I do have a review coming somewhat soon. I was able to snag a bit of time with FBC: Firebreak ahead of release but it was suggested in the review documentation to experience the game in a "real world" setting. That is, to experience the game when you can join up with randoms since this is an online co-op focused title. My time with the game was already spent in a full group with a couple of buddies though. I can't imagine the random player experience will be too different, outside of people not having the benefit of knowing some of the tips provided in the review documentation, but you never know.

While my review won't be live for a few days, I will say that FBC: Firebreak is a solid 3 out of 5, maybe even a low 4 out of 5. It's a fun game with a few weird gameplay decisions and some difficulty spikes. The $40 price tag and the fact that it's available day one on Game Pass and PS Plus Game Catalog And now that I loaded up OpenCritic, I see that I'm not alone in that line of thinking.

Play your way. Grab your gear, grab your friends. Deploy the garden gnome and the piggy bank. It's time to clean House. The trailer showcases the different jobs players will undertake from Freezer Duty, to Hot Fix to Frequency Shift along with the various threats players will face.

An FBC: Firebreak Deluxe Edition is also available for purchase at launch for $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99. FBC: Firebreak Deluxe Edition includes a collection of exclusive cosmetics and premium voice packs for players looking to personalize their gear and squad identity.

The FBC: Firebreak Deluxe Edition includes:
    • “The Firestarter” Premium Voice Pack
    • “The Pencil Pusher” Premium Voice Pack
    • Firestarter Armor Set, Apex Revision (Helmet, Body Armor, Gloves)
    • Scorched Remnant Double-Barrel Shotgun Skin
    • Golden Firebreak Spray
    • Classified Requisition: “Firestarter”: A collection of 36 unlockable cosmetic items including weapon skins, sprays, and armor sets
Base game owners can upgrade to Deluxe Edition for $10.00 / €10.00 / £7.00.
