  • Starship Troopers: Extermination Update 1.4 Details

    Smarter, better, stronger.
A small platoon of space marines take up defensive positions along the top of a wall as a large swarm of alien bugs approaches.

Offworld shares details on the just released Update 1.4 for Starship Troopers: Extermination. This new update is set to be "ready to deploy" and brings with it "smarter enemies, powerful new tools, and long-awaited features that give troopers an even greater edge on the frontlines."

Some of the highlights of Update 1.4 include a new Fednet Heroism Feature, underbarrel attachment for the Morita MK1, better pathing for the bugs, and a variety of quality-of-life improvements.

The key details can be found below on the update along with a trailer. There are also the full patch notes if you want the nitty gritty details. Starship Troopers: Extermination was fully released out of Early Access in October 2024.

Summary of the changes that players can expect in Update 1.4:
    • Fednet Heroism Feature – Troopers can now equip FedNet cameras to document heroism on the battlefield, increasing unit morale and XP gains. Capture the action, earn rewards, and turn every mission into a propaganda masterpiece!!!
    • Underbarrel Attachment for Morita MK1 – Troopers who’ve reached Weapon Mastery level 6 or higher with the Morita MK1 can now equip an underbarrel attachment through the loadout menu. Warning: additional weight shifts the rifle's balance forward, slightly reducing accuracy while moving and shooting.
    • Improved Bug Pathing – Bugs will navigate more effectively and get stuck less often in the environment.
    • General Gameplay Enhancements – A range of quality-of-life improvements and balancing tweaks designed to refine core mechanics and elevate the overall tactical experience on the battlefield
But wait, there's more. Highlights for the upcoming Update 1.5 were also shared today. There is no exact date on when Update 1.5 will drop just yet. This next update will, among other things, add support for up to 16-players in the Hive Hunt mode.

    Update 1.5 – Key Features:
    • New weapon - Morita MK2 – A brand new, powerful weapon, seen briefly in the movies, is added to the players' arsenal to help turn the tide against the arachnid threat.
    • Galactic Front – Phase 1 Overhaul – Major improvements to accessibility and usability of Company Operations based on community feedback.
    • Eliminate the need to purchase for Company Ops – Company operations will now be displayed as a rotating list in the game menu, linked to the player's progress milestones.
    • New Quickplay Option for Company Ops – Jump into operations faster with a streamlined matchmaking experience tailored for Company Ops.
    • Dynamic Sky System Added to X-11 – A new visual layer to the battlefield debuts with dynamic, evolving skies, with continued refinements planned over time.
And that’s not all — the developers have one more surprise. Based on players' feedback and analytics, it’s clear: players want Hive Hunt to support 16-player matchmaking. So, starting in 1.5, Hive Hunt will become a 16-player-only mode!

This is Part 1 of an even larger revamp aimed at making Hive Hunt a core part of the 16-player experience. We want it to feel bigger, bolder, and more intense, so please keep the feedback coming as we continue to refine it!

    Key Hive Hunt Changes:
    • Players must now carry Nukes to each hive and detonate them.
    • The rest of the squad will need to protect the Nuke carriers to ensure a successful strike.
    • Spawn tables are getting updated to raise the challenge but be warned: the mode may feel a bit easier until the full changes land in 1.6
