  • Fan Remake of Oblivion in Skyrim, Skyblivion, Expected to Release in 2025

The mod team is optimistic for a 2025 launch.

Skyblivion, the fan-made recreation of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion within The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, is expected to be released in 2025. This is according to the mod team's latest developer update stream.

It was during this stream where some members of the team showed off some of the work that has been done so far. In an age when content such as Black Mesa and Fallout London exist, it's still extremely impressive to see such a monumental effort put into a fan-made project. The team has already spent several years on Skyblivion.

The team says Skyblivion aims to be a 1:1 recreation of Oblivion within the Skyrim engine. They have been making some changes to a few of Oblivion's more lacking aspects though. For instance, they aim to make unique items that "are actually unique." They are also making adjustments to Oblivion bosses to make the encounters and loot better live up to their in-universe lore. They specifically mention Mannimarco as one such boss that they are working on improving from Oblivion.

The Skyblivion team seems to be mostly unphased by the recent rumor that there will be an official remake of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion releasing soon. It's a remake that was first rumored back in 2023 with still nothing to show for it. With that remake still being a rumor, it's really hard to say just how extensive an official remake would be when compared to the efforts displayed by the Skyblivion team.
