Anybody who has played even an hour of Fallout: New Vegas is probably familiar with a certain T-rex that stands tall outside the Novac community. It's one of the first major landmarks you come across while setting out into the greater Mojave Wasteland, and is the site of some key moments with Boone, one of the optional companions in New Vegas.
This past weekend, a fan page for all things Fallout posted a photograph of a recreation of Dinky, at least Dinky's head, that allegedly comes from the set the Fallout television show. It seems like Dinky and possibly the Novac location will play at least some role in the second season of Fallout.
Given the timeline of the show, it's not super obvious how Novac will look. The show takes place in 2296 while the events of Fallout: New Vegas take place in 2281. This means that the television show could make one of the several different Fallout: New Vegas endings "canon." According to showrunner Graham Wagner, "things have happened" in the time between the end of New Vegas and the events of the show.
All we really want the audience to know is that things have happened, so that there isn't an expectation that we pick the show up in season two, following one of the myriad canon endings that depend on your choices when you play [Fallout: New Vegas].
With that post-credits stuff, we really wanted to imply, guys, the world has progressed, and the idea that the wasteland stays as it is decade-to-decade is preposterous to us. It’s just a place [of] constant tragedy, events, horrors — there's a constant churn of trauma. We're definitely implying more has occurred.
