The first hotfix for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 just went live this week. The update offers some important fixes for crash bugs and even addresses a bug that was causing excessive CPU usage. Those waiting for ultrawide support and private PvE lobbies will have to wait a bit longer though.
Saber Interactive says that a much bigger patch that will include bigger changes will be coming soon. An exact date for that bigger update were not shared by the developer.
Space Marine 2 launched this past Monday to some impressive numbers. The peak concurrent player count on Steam alone hit over 225,000 people. This rather high concurrent count comes alongside word from Saber Interactive that Space Marine 2 sold over 2 million copies already.
The first update for the game is aimed purely at making sure the game is playable for more people. Some users have encountered some crashes here and there. On the PC side specifically, several players noticed unusual CPU behavior when playing. This update tackles some of those crashes and weird CPU behavior.
Crashes and bug fixes
- Fixed some rare possible crashes when starting the game
- Fixed a rare possible crash that occured during the first cutscene
- Fixed several other rare crashes
- Fixed several rare bugs that were causing soft locks in the story mode
- Optimized CPU behavior on high end CPUs
Ultrawide resolutions, private PvE lobbies, and something called a "sparring area" are three things that will be included in the first "big" update for the game. This will presumably be the next update released for the game barring any of these smaller updates coming out that address critical bugs.
