New weapons and a new map added.
Killing Floor 2 - Neon Nightmares

Tripwire Interactive just released a new themed update for Killing Floor 2. The update is called Neon Nightmares and with it comes new weapons and a new map for the game across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam.

The new map is called Biolapse and is a multi-layered laboratory. Players will have a little extra advantage when going against the undead by way of two new weapons: The HRG Incendiary Rifle for the Firebug role and the Compound Bow for the Sharpshooter.

As always, most of this content release is free to everyone. The only thing that looks to have a cost associated with it is the Compound Bow. There also seems to be a double XP and 4x drop rate event going on from now through March 31 if you're all into that sort of thing.

A longer breakdown of today's new content can be found below. Before that, it should be noted that Killing Floor 2 is once again on sale via Steam and the PlayStation Store. This seems to be the norm for whenever the game gets an update. It looks like you can get Killing Floor 2 for 67% off, or $9.89 (USD). You can actually buy the entire game right now for cheaper than the price of just the Compound Bow DLC, which is sitting at $9.99 on the PlayStation Store and nowhere to be found on Steam (at the time of this posting). Now, just how are you going to charge $10 for one weapon?

Killing Floor 2: Neon Nightmares update highlights include:
  • New Map: Biolapse
    • Compatible with Survival and Weekly Game Modes
    • Explore multiple levels in this abandoned Horzine laboratory and take advantage of layouts and traps to give the Zeds a run for their own dosh
  • New Weapon: HRG Incendiary Rifle
    • Set hordes of Zeds aflame with this modified M16 M203 Assault Rifle equipped with incendiary rounds and grenades. Grenade blasts also leave behind a temporary patch of flame that burns Zeds
  • New Weapon: Compound Bow (Paid Content)
    • This versatile bow features two arrow types. Sharp arrows have a high penetration and damage rate and can be picked up off the ground to re-use. Cryo arrows create a small explosion with a high rate of freeze.
    • Both arrow types can be charged to boost both range and damage. For close encounters, the melee bash is also decked with a long blade, dealing substantial damage
In Killing Floor 2, players descend into continental Europe where the outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech’s failed experiment has quickly spread and gained unstoppable momentum, essentially paralyzing the European Union— Just one month after the events in the original KILLING FLOOR, the specimen clones are everywhere and civilization is in disarray; communications have failed, governments have collapsed, and military forces have been systematically eradicated. The people of Europe know survival and self-preservation too well and lucky survivors have gone into hiding.

Not all have given up hope though... A group of civilians and mercenaries have banded together to combat the outbreak and established privately funded operation bases across Europe. Upon tracking specimen clone outbreaks, players will descend into zed-laden hot zones and exterminate them.
