Google has officially issued a response to growing ball of anger that are Stadia owners. In case you forgot, we brought you a story earlier this week detailing some of the complaints Stadia early adopters have had about the platform and about Google in general.
In short, fans have been upset that they had gone 40 days without any new game announcements or even game releases for the streaming platform. There were also numerous complaints about the lack of promised feature availability, the lack of iOS support, the inability to access Stadia on Android devices that aren't Pixel devices, and the list went on. Today, a representative from Google did actually issue a statement. Only, it was a statement made to GamesIndustry and it's probably not something that Stadia owners will want to hear.
The Google representative refutes the claims made on Reddit that the company has been radio silent. They assert that they've actually had weekly updates made on the Stadia Community forum in addition to monthly recaps on the Google Keyword blog. One of the complaints from Stadia owners was that the weekly updates have started to be less "weekly" and more "bi-monthly."
Here is the entirety of what the Google rep said:
"We understand the desire to hear more specifics on the games. After all, that is what it is about: the games. Of course, not all 120 titles will be announced by the Stadia team, as we leave it up to the publishers to make the announcement about their IP/games, and which platforms it will appear on -- just as we will do with the exclusive content coming to Stadia.
There are a lot of reasons for the time of those game announcements -- anything from planned promotions or events, title readiness, proximity to first playable demo, shareholder requirements, etc. We continue to work closely with our publishing and developing partners and are here to support them in all areas. We are excited to share more about some of the exclusive games coming to Stadia soon."
