  • New Trailer for The Surge 2 Offers a Look at Its 'Symphony of Violence'

Every beat is a violent noise.
    The Surge 2

A new trailer is out today for Deck13's action-RPG, The Surge 2. This latest look at the hardcore and violent game puts a lot of the action to Sharon Van Etten's cover of "The End of the World."

The Surge 2 is slated to be released on September 24 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The game should make fans of the original game excited. In addition to retaining a lot of what players liked about the first game, including the game's unique upgrade system where you utilized dismembered limbs for upgrades, there are a number of improvements that address some of the faults of the original. Well, hopefully it addresses some of the faults of the first Surge game.

The Surge 2 still allows players to target specific weak points on their enemies. In addition, there is a customizable combat drone, various game changing implants you can use, a new directional parrying system, and more. All pre-orders will get access to the URBN Gear Pack at release.

    About The Surge 2

After the success of The Surge, the hardcore Action RPG released in May 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, Focus Home Interactive and Deck 13 are happy to announce the renewal of their partnership and the development of The Surge 2, with a release date planned for September 24, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The Surge 2 keeps what fans and critics loved about the original – hardcore combat utilizing a unique, dynamic limb targeting system and deep character progression – while also expanding greatly upon the formula. The Surge 2 takes place in a brand new environment: a sprawling, devastated city with larger and more ambitious level design, made possible by Deck13’s upgraded and improved engine. Combat is more brutal and tactical than ever, with even more options thanks to an expanded limb targeting system. In addition, more abilities, weapons, implants, and drones give players a vast arsenal to build their character with, in their fight against the array of diverse new enemies and bosses.

The Surge 2 will release on September 24, 2019 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

      Review: The Surge 2 (PC)
      by Shawn Zipay
Better than the original in almost every way.

A weird thing happens when you have just a weekend to play a game and write a review for said game. I literally got my code Friday morning but could not begin until late Friday night. Sometimes that game ends up being longer than you anticipated. Sometimes that time that you could spend playing the game is spent instead with a weird thing called "life." And while "life" does have a tremendous framerate, it doesn't help...

      Reborn from the Fallen
There is a very interesting thing happening with reviews for Deck13's new action-RPG The Surge. It's something I saw before and something I myself am guilty of, especially when it comes to Deck13's previous release, Lords of the Fallen. That "interesting thing" I have noticed is a move to compare each and every aspect of The Surge to the Dark Souls games. That alone is fine but the thing I cannot stand is the fact that some are actually upset, even borderline...
