Registrations are now open for what looks to be the fourth Balls of Steel tournament. This year's Balls of Steel tournament tasks players with racing through Binding of Isaac: Rebirth as fast as possible. The tournament is once again presented by two popular Twitch streamers: Cobaltstreak and Richard_Hammer.

The tournament does make use of custom save files that slightly tweak the gameplay of the original game. It also removes some items and abilities that have been deemed to be too overpowered or too troublesome for racing purposes. This year's prize pool has not yet been determined, but the last tournament had a $2,000 (USD) prize for first and $1,750 distributed for 2nd through 4th.

Interested parties should also note that there will be tryouts to prove that you're actually worthy of entering into the tournament. Basically, just make sure you can play Isaac well enough to consistently beat the full game. There is also a custom save file set up for the game that potential competitors can check out. From what I understand, the save is not yet finalized and is subject to change at any time. However, the save should give you a fairly good idea on what you can expect for the tournament.

If you're over the age of 18, think you're good at Isaac, and are serious about participating in this tournament, you should check out the sign-up form on the Balls of Steel website. The tournament will be streamed via Twitch. The tryouts will take place May 8 - May 9, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible.
