Capcom released the original Resident Evil games on Steam late last night. This was apparently done as part of the 30th anniversary of the franchise, but it's far from a joyous celebration.

The releases that hit Steam last night include: Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. All of three of these games were out by late 1999 and yet Capcom felt compelled to released them on Steam with their Enigma DRM.

Microsoft just revealed the new titles that are being added to Game Pass in early January 2024. The list offered up on the Xbox Wire extends only until January 16th, which seems to suggest another batch of games for the second half of January will be revealed at a later date.

A recent update removed the ray tracing functionality from these remakes.

Capcom says that ray tracing features will return to the PC versions of the remakes for both Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. Ray tracing will make a return in a future update after it was accidentally removed in updates released last week for both titles.

Capcom says that the recently released Resident Evil 4 remake is selling very, very well. In its first two days of availability, Resident Evil 4 sold over three million copies.

Get scared through the power of the cloud.

During today's Nintendo Direct, Capcom revealed cloud versions for four recent Resident Evil titles. The first will be Resident Evil Village Cloud and it will vape cloud its way onto the Switch on October 28, 2022. The Winters' Expansion will be out on December 2, 2022 for Switch.

PC players have reported a bunch of technical issues following the "next-gen" update.

A free update for Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 rolled out this week for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Included in the update was the addition of ray tracing support and some other graphical enhancements. While this was mostly for the next-gen consoles the PC version also received the new features as well.

New units shipped figures for the most recent remakes revealed.

Capcom announced some of the shipment and sales figures for both the recent Resident Evil 3 remake and the older but still relevant Resident Evil 2 remake. The figures presented showcase the number of copies shipped for Resident Evil 3's first five days since it was released. Meanwhile, the Resident Evil 2 figures are from when the game released way back in January 2019.
