New 'Experimental' Splinter Cell Game Confirmed by Ubisoft CEO

Open World? GAAS? Mobile? VR?

The emotional rollercoaster that fans of the Splinter Cell series has been on for the past few years has been never ending, has had no chill, and frankly, it's gotten to be a wee bit tiresome. In May of this year, a new Splinter Cell was apparently "confirmed" and then it was later revealed to just be a joke.

Last month, we again heard a rumor that a new Splinter Cell was actually in the works. However, that story from July says that Facebook is financing the game and that it will be a VR only title and exclusive to the Oculus...

Mojang Cancels 'Super Duper Graphics Pack' for Minecraft

Performance issues and engine difficulties were too much to overcome.

Sadly, Mojang announced today that they are cancelling the promised Super Duper Graphics Pack that was originally revealed at E3 2017. This visual overhaul was teased for the game during the annual industry trade show and fans were eager to check it out for themselves.

This was going to be an optional piece of DLC that brought a suite of visual improvements to the Xbox One and PC versions of the game without needing to mod it. Sure, a lot of the visual improvements have been done time and time again...

Call of Duty 2020 Rumored to Be Black Ops Reboot

Next stop: Reboot City.

This year, Call of Duty fans are getting a reboot of the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title. Next year, fans may get a reboot of the Black Ops series. This is if the latest rumors are to be believed.

The 2020 Call of Duty will either be Call of Duty: Black Ops 5 or simply Call of Duty: Black Ops. The game will be set in the Cold War era and will also include the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

This all comes courtesy of YouTuber TheLongSensation via his Twitter account. While it may be easy to just write this off as some random person...

No Man's Sky Beyond Launch Trailer

Update arrives August 14.

A launch trailer for the massive Beyond update for No Man's Sky was released today by Hello Games. This update is said to be the "culmination of 12 months of work" on what was originally going to be three separate, large updates. Those three updates have been rolled into this massive update.

We already touched upon some of the new features and content coming to the game in our last post. The biggest addition, at least for PC and PlayStation VR owners, is the addition of full VR support for No Man's Sky. There are also some additional...

Solos Finally Coming to Apex Legends

But only for a limited time.

Apex Legends will finally allow introverts to play without worry starting on August 13. A Solos Mode will be introduced into the F2P battle royale game. So far, the game has only really allowed for three-man squads.

The addition of Solos Mode is the good news. The bad news is that this mode will only be added to the game for a limited time. This Solos Mode will run from August 13 through August 27 in Apex Legends. Best get your fill of it while you can, because who knows when or if it will come back afterwards. ...

DICE's General Manager, Karl Magnus Troedsson, announced today that there will be a special double XP event starting on November 28 for Battlefield 4. • Battlefield 4 on Xbox One Utilizes Kinect for Leaning, Peeking, and Voice Commands

The Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 will feature a few unique gameplay features courtesy of Kinect. Most notably, it will make use of head-tracking to allow you to lean out and peak simply by moving your head while playing. This removes the problem of having to strafe out from behind cover, which completely exposes your body to attack. Leaning out from a corner will now only expose half of your body, which obviously offers a tactical advantage for those making use of the technology. Beyond that, another game changer will be the implementation of voice commands. Use your own voice to call for a medic, re...

Silenced QBU-88 in Battlefield 4 will Mute the Entire Server

Yep, it looks like another major bug somehow slipped through the cracks at DICE and EA for Battlefield 4. It seems as though if anybody in the server equips a silencer on the QBU-88, everybody in the server will lose their sound.

How exactly does something like this make it into a post-beta release?...

  • FXAA Ruins Texture Quality in Battlefield 4

FXAA Ruins Texture Quality in Battlefield 4

We already know how FXAA use tends to blur textures in games while simultaneously serving as a quick method of AA. However, it seems as though FXAA use in Battlefield 4 blurs textures more noticeably than in any other game.

HardOCP suggest turning the "Antialiasing Post" setting to "Off" in order to fix the blurred texture issue. The other AA settings in the game should be ok to adjust to your own tastes, just leave Antialiasing Post "off."

Digital Foundry Compares Battlefield 4 on PlayStation 4 vs Xbox One vs PC

Digital Foundry has delivered in spades again tonight with their in-depth analysis of Battlefield 4 visual fidelity and performance between the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and the PC. They do stress that both console versions are being run on development kits and are still in development.

Needless to say, there are some basic differences in image quality that need knocking on the head right away. Chief among them is the hot topic of internal resolution, where we determine that the Xbox One code is indeed running at 1280x720. If this is set in stone for release - as is likely - the Microsoft version is poised to give us the most aliasing
