Activision confirms that the next Call of Duty, rumored to be Modern Warfare 4, will not be released on PlayStation 4. This confirmation came from the official Call of Duty Twitter (Nitter link) account in response to a rumor from a supposed Call of Duty leaker.
Over the weekend, a rumor kicked off from supposed Call of Duty leaker Alaix. Alaix claimed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is "currently being playtested on PS4." The official Call of Duty account responded by saying, "not sure where this one started, but it's not true. The next Call of Duty is not being developed for PS4."
Though not directly stated, it probably stands to reason that if the next Call of Duty isn't coming to PlayStation 4, it also won't be coming to the Xbox One either.
This year's Call of Duty release hasn't even been announced yet. It's not clear where the rumor originated that this year's release was going to be another Modern Warfare release. If previous years are anything to go by, you can probably expect to see the next Call of Duty officially announced during an Xbox Games Showcase in early summer, likely to be held in early June.
Whatever it ends up being, surely this year's Call of Duty will have a better campaign than the garbage that was Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. ...Right?
