in ValveValve is Trying to Put Together a Major Team Fortress 2 Update for Summer
Heavy update? Is it the Heavy update? Probably not. But what if?
A major update is being put together for Team Fortress 2 that Valve expects to deliver to players at some point this coming summer. This update will add in new items, new maps, taunts, content from select few from the Steam Workshop, and more.
The announcement for this update came via the Team Fortress 2 website via something Valve calls a "blog" or "blog-post." In today's posting, Valve... -

in ValveUpdates Released for Steam Client and Team Fortress 2
Valve pushed out updates today for Steam and Team Fortress 2.
We have two whole updates to share with you today courtesy of Valve. The first is word of a new Steam client update. The second is an update that was released today for Team Fortress 2. It's like a NewsBits, but smaller and potentially way less interesting.
In addition to today's Team Fortress 2 update, there was an update released just yesterday that kicked off the Scream Fortress XIV event, bringing some Halloween scares and items to the game. ... -

in ValveTeam Fortress 2 Receives Substantial Exploit Fix Update
No, this update doesn't directly tackle the bot problem.
An update for Team Fortress 2 was released last night for the 15-year-old game. While this update does not tackle the game's horrific bot problem directly, it does fix a number of bugs and exploits. It's one of the larger patches released for the game in quite some time now.
The update fixes some exploits related to being able to use sv_cheats on secure servers. That seems like a pretty important thing to fix. It... -

in ValveA Decently Sized Team Fortress 2 Update is Now Available
I guess there is a TF2 team at Valve after all.
Valve just released a fairly chonky update today for Team Fortress 2. This update does not seem to add in any additional content to the game, but rather focuses on bug fixes and updating various pieces of content.
Some of the major points in this update include a fix for an exploit that let players impersonate other Steam accounts, disabling player sprays by default, and some changes to the map cp_snakewater_final1.

in ValveFans are Remaking Team Fortress 2 in Source 2
A group of modders are working together to update the game they love.
Facepunch Studios is hard at work developing a spiritual Garry's Mod successor that they're calling s&box. The sandbox style game started life out as an Unreal Engine project but has since swapped to using Source 2, the engine developed by Valve that is currently in use in games like Dota 2 and Half-Life: Alyx.
Thanks to the limited public availability of s&box to eager developers, Source 2 is... -

in ValveLeaked Source Code for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 Resurfaces
Code is from a 2018 leak.
Update (April 22, 2020 at 9:18PM ET): According to a statement issued to PC Gamer from Valve, the leaked code is only for CS:GO, but it does include "very old pieces of Team Fortress 2." Valve says that they will continue to investigate.
Valve also says that after an initial review of the leaked code they "believe it to be a reposting of a limited CS:GO engine code depot released to partners in late 2017, and originally leaked in... -

in ValveRick May, Voice of TF2's Soldier, Has Passed Away
You were good, son. Real good. Maybe even the best.
βββIn the late afternoon hours of April 13th, voice actor John Patrick Lowrie passed along word that his friend and colleague, Rick May, has passed away. The two voiced characters from Valve's Team Fortress 2. Lowrie voiced the Sniper while May was the voice of the Soldier.
While Covid-19 may have been what ultimately took May's life, the actor did suffer from some unfortunate health issues in the preceding months. He... -

in ValveSteam Workshop Items Need Approval from Valve
But only for first-party titles from Valve.
You may have already seen that news going around that items on the Steam Workshop must now be approved by Valve before they will appear for the public. This seems to include anything that you may typically find on the Steam Workshop, including custom maps, models, skins, sounds, and the like. This first showed up via a Reddit post on the Global Offensive subreddit.
However, this approval process is not for every Workshop enabled... -

Valve decided that they were tired of being mocked for not developing anything and have decided to do something about it. So, they put together a new "Jungle Inferno" content update for Team Fortress 2! Of the six new maps that have been announced for this update (so far), Valve created one of them!
That map is called Mercenary Park.
