Borderlands goes with Gearbox, Remnant stays with Embracer.

Back in the far off time of 2021, Embracer Group purchased Gearbox Entertainment for $1.3 billion. On March 28, 2024, Embracer Group announced that they have sold off Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two Interactive for $460 million. The acquisition by Take-Two is expected to be complete by the end of June.

A lot of companies are supposedly interested in the Borderlands developer.

Gearbox is reportedly up for sale by parent company Embracer. This report comes from Reuters that say a sale of Gearbox is just one option that Embracer is considering for the Borderlands studio. According to Reuters' reporting, a number of third-parties have already expressed interest in picking up Gearbox.

So far, this is just one report and has not been confirmed yet. Neither Embracer nor Gearbox...

Another Embracer owned studio impacted with layoffs.

More unfortunate news from the gaming industry today as a new report from Gamedeveloper.com says that layoffs have hit Gearbox Publishing. The report notes that layoffs have been happening at Gearbox Publishing "throughout the summer and as recently as this week."

Gearbox Publishing announces that Remnant 2 has sold over one million copies since its launch on July 25, 2023. This sequel to Remnant: From the Ashes once again blends together co-op survival with third-person shooting action.

Gunfire Games and Gearbox Publishing have officially released Remnant 2 today for everyone. This follow-up to Remnant: From the Ashes, is once again a third-person action-survival shooter that supports up to three players in co-op.

The worlds of Remnant 2 are dynamically generated and include branching quest lines, unique loot, and plenty of enemies to shoot or slice your way through. There's a good deal of rewarding exploration and replayability...

Contrary to popular belief, physical media is not dead.

THQ Nordic and Gearbox Publishing announced today that they are going to have a physical release for Remnant 2. For those that still prefer physical media discs, Remnant 2 will be headed to retail stores all around the world when it releases later in 2023.

This will be Gearbox's first expansion in Asia.

Gearbox Entertainment announces that Eidos Shanghai is now Gearbox Studio Shanghai. This marks the first expansion of Gearbox into Asia, which they call "an important market in the company's long-term growth strategy." The previous leader of Eidos Shanghai, Gigi Ning, will stay on as the general manager of Gearbox Studio Shanghai. They will report to Gearbox Publishing San Francisco.

The Counterplay Games developed, and Gearbox Publishing published game, Godfall: Ultimate Edition, is now available. This action title is out now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Steam.

Gearbox Publishing and developer Counterplay Games just announced the upcoming release of the "largest free update yet" for Godfall. Input buffering has been changed up.

A new update for the Counterplay Games developed action-RPG-looter-slasher-brouhaha known as Godfall was just released. Among the handful of changes in this update is an update to the way the game handles input buffering.

The PlayStation 5 exclusive launch title (also available on PC (affiliate link)), Godfall, is now available for those with a PS5 in hand. The action title is developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox Publishing.

It's billed as a "looter-slasher, melee action-RPG." I think that should tell you that there is plenty of loot to be earned just without the use of guns. It's more of a stabby-stabby sort of game instead...

The first official gameplay video for Godfall running on the PC was just released. The video made its debut during the ongoing PC Gaming Show mere minutes ago.

Godfall is in development at Counterplay Games and will be published by Gearbox Publishing. It's currently looking to be released on the PC and PlayStation 5 around the Holiday 2020 window.

Gearbox Publishing and developer Compulsion Games announced the release date for We All Fall Down, the final piece of DLC for We Happy Few. Though the original game came out near the tail end of 2018, Compulsion Games has continued to support the title with a number of content updates and general updates here and there. Perhaps it's time to return to the game to see how it has improved since I reviewed it back in August of 2018.
