Sure it does. More dmg equalls more kills. More accuracy equalls more kills. Personally I notice the biggest difference against targets medium range that are running/sprinting. The higher ROF means it's more forgiving on the shots I miss.

I took some more video and it's really interresting. School is very busy but I will get around to putting it up soon. I hope to make this review as comprehensive as possible.

Oh Bfa variable, I seemed to do better in your GzR server than TNT server, maybe the skill level is a bit different? It's unfortunate to see you drop to a level such as insulting a person's favorite server

TNT server is USUALLY orderly and admined. I am sure that you've come in a bad time.

find me another server with Karkand/Wake only, and I will gladly join

"no, the first two round still matters, I am talking about the split second here." exactly supposing that ur in close range, and there is NO headshot and it's PKM vs. MG36, after 2 rounds consecutively fired in full auto, the accuracy statys the same, only the recoil is different. If u do count headshots, thent eh PKM will get the first shot to be a headshot and then the PKM wins. :)

again, I am different than most common players, people say M95 is crap and how M24 is better, but I can;t kill anything with M24 but I been constantly getting 15-1 with M95, same thing goes for PKM.

Ya, same here, i prefer the MG36 over the PKM (unlike most people), and since EA decided to be generous lately, and they gave me two FREE unlocks, i've been doing good with the M95 lately, much more sucess than with the M24.

In conclusion, all weapons in BF2 are amazingly balanced (with few exceptions). When everyone isn't using the same weapons (say M4, AK, or Deagle) like in CS, there bound to be differences of opinion. All weapons have their specific learning curve, and almost all of them have their niche. Even Mp7 is extremely deadly at certain situation

I HAVE to agree with this statement. Especially the same weapons part, like servers with everybody using the F2000, it's just noobtube nation, and then even more common now, a server with just G36E whores, get's boring fast, cause when that happens, it comes down to who can prone first, who can bunnyhop best, and who can press the mouse first.

The time that Lazy8s spent doing this research and typing it, he could've earned at least 2000 points, gotten closer to his next promotion and unlocked another 2 weapons.

Exactly, but he decided to share info with the rest of us instead. Very nice of him.

This was quite fun actually. Believe it or not it added to my enjoyment of the game. It was a great break from studying and as a Computational Science major math/music minor it was a fun way to apply my knowledge. I used a week where I had a lot of exams and couldn't play much anyways and did this in my spare time. I hope it has helped, or at least given people something to think about. Quite fun, I think I will definately do it again sometime.

EDIT: And I'm still not done with this yet, just slowing down till I get Gunnery Sgt.

What about everyone using a G36?

Which one, the G36K (unlikely), G36E, or G36C, i'm assuming the G36E cause that's what ALL medics use now.

Re: PKM vs MG36 My Opinion

For one, the support class isn't like any other class because it is meant to be in a squad and support them and not go rambo. They are the slowest of them all and have limited range. So of course if they are in a squad they are going to do better. Most people would get slaughtered unless they were in a squad and not in Karkand, Shaqi, or Mastuur. I am srue the top players have Karkand as their most played also.

And your numbers mean nothing when the sh*t hits the fan and you need to take cover etc. I like the M16 personally, but everyone hates it and noob tubes with it because they can't hit anything with the 3 round burst yet it is 300rpm faster and more accurate than the others which makes it just as good if not better than the other ARs.

In the end it is still personal preforance and those numbers mean as much as a pile of crap. Factor in taking cover, squad support, ammo, skill, and whatever else is in combat and those numbers didn't get you or anyone else anywhere.

Please choose your unlock on what you play and not on whatever someone else says.

Thanks Lazy8s, now after I read this research everything is starting to make sense.

Re: PKM vs MG36 My Opinion

Reposting my rant from the CSG forums, about why I still hate the MG36 and still love my PKM:

1.) Accuracy is not a determining factor. It's just not. Comparing it to a sniper rifle is ridiculous, the two couldn't be less alike. You have a long-range precision rifle that takes several seconds between shots and a belt-fed rapidfire lead cannon designed for mid/close-range suppression fire.

The FIRST shot may be more accurate, but you know how often you hit with the first shot with ANY support gun unless it's point-blank? According to BF2S, the two guns both have the same deviation increase per shot, meaning the MG36 will ramp up inaccuracy faster. In practice, I can't even tell the difference in accuracy. They're both equally terrible.

2.) Burst does not matter. I've tried it, and I went back to spraying. The amount of time EITHER gun takes to drop back to regular accuracy is VERY long. Try it some time, it takes like a full second to recover the aim loss from a single shot, yet only takes 2 shots to ramp up to the maximum aim deviation. Assault rifles are a much different story.

3.) Actual damage output is important, not just shots per kill. When you fire a LMG, you should be PRONE. That means in close-quarters, the odds of a head shot are very low, and the odds of a leg shot are disproportionately high.

4.) Damage per bullet is important too. Your target has 70 health left after the first bullet from an MG36 hits them. They have 55 after the PKM hits them. I consider the low rate of fire on the PKM an advantage because of this, because it severely lowers the amount of time they have to react.

5.) Clip size is important. Twice today, I got a reminder of why: If you kill someone and a medic comes over to revive them, the ONLY gun that can consistently kill both of them over again is an LMG. Situations like that, you'd be reloading your MG36 while I was busy cleaning up kill #3. I very rarely find myself reloading the PKM in a firefight, whereas my MG36 trials, I was doing it all the time. You're always at a full clip before a fight anyway, you have to be an idiot not to, especially when you've got unlimited ammo.

6.) YOU DON'T OVERHEAT. You just don't. Not overheating an LMG is as basic a practice as not firing a grenade launcher at the floor. If you do overheat, RELOAD! You already screwed up, you already need to take cover, and the reload will take as long to happen as the complete cooling process. Unless you're in full-on spray mode for a long period of time (ironic for an article preaching 3-round burst), you're not gonna overheat anyway.

7.) Reloading while sprinting? What? Let go of your shift key, hit R, hold down your shift key, continue sprinting while you reload. You can already do this.

The only thing I hate about the PKM, it sure does take forever to pull that thing out! Only the F2000 compares in how obnoxiously-long the draw time is. :)

headshot means nothing, youre better off going for torso shots with the PKM, especially because of its high normal damage.

in fact, 2 round bursts from the G36K are just about the only gun that its effective to go for headshots with, barring sniper rifles.

otherwise, a quick volley of 3-4 in the chest is about oh 500 times easier and more possible in combat, and will drop em no prob.

the MG36 is better close in for those bunny hopping c4 chuckers, while the PKM is better medium and both are equal long range.
