      Wow, nice stats man!

I have always just held the trigger down on the LMGs. I never had much luck with using bursts but now I will give it another try.

Do you stick with the PKM pretty much?

Re: PKM vs MG36 My Opinion

I play whatever LMG is best for the situation but there's one thing Lazy8s was right about, a higher rate of fire is better for hitting people that are running across your FoV. So the PKM, having the slowest rate of fire, is good for hitting people coming up alleys or straight towards your position but good luck hitting anyone sprinting across from you....I can do it fairly often but it's not easy to get the hang of. I guess I should add that when you burst fire...the gap between bursts is so quick it's almost the same as firing full auto but you get better accuracy and you save barrel heat, I've never had someone shoot at me with a LMG using this method but I bet when I'm shooting at others the bullet whizzes and snaps probably sound like I'm full autoing. I'm too lazy to make vids but the only way I can really explain it is to use the PKM 2 round burst...try saying "tada" as fast as you can and that's close to what your gun should sound like when you fire in 2 round bursts. tada tada tada tada. When you get that rhythm down the fire button is pressed down for basically the same amount of time for the other LMGs but you just do the bursts for the amount of rounds that I said before with them.

If you look in the review I have screenshots of the gun's spread in full auto and burst. Honestly, the burst and full auto are so close I cannot tell a difference. I never use the 3-round burst on the MG36 because it's the same thing as full auto.

I've used both and I perfer the MG36. I just found that the PKM, for all it's power, was too inaccurate for my tastes. But that's just me and I've seen people kick ass with it.

Your conclusion is based off of a test that took possibly a few minutes to conduct. Mine is based on 322 hours, 14 minutes and 34 seconds of online play.

and I wasn't talking about using the 3-round burst MODE on the MG36 I just use 3 round bursts in full auto mode because that 3 round burst mode gets stuck sometimes and won't fire as fast as I can click the god damn mouse.

First off lay off; all of your posts here are in response to how wrong I am, but you mostly agree with my conclusions. I don't care if you play 24hrs per day every day; you have no tangible proof of anything you're posting. A 2min test can tell anyone how accurate a gun is. Go prone, do 3 or 4 test fires full auto, single shot, 3-round burst, etc and look at the fire pattern. There you go, now not only do you know what aparently the god of support gunners (read biggest stat whore) knows, but you actually have some proof of it. I know you're really proud of your K-D ratio and it's great that you never spawn under artillery and you sit back and kill as many people as possible and probably run with a medic or two to get rezzed every time you're killed, but that doesn't refute any facts bro. If you want to prove me wrong then take some videos; make some screenshots. I can say "I've lived longer than you, you're breathing wrong" but it doesn't make it true, it makes it my opinion. Your time invested doesn't impress me, neither does any ratio. If there's anything I've learned from gaming it's this: There are 2 types of gamers; those that are good, and those that play a lot. Both of them wind up achieving the same thing. It's a game and who really cares which gun is more accurate? If you're irritated that I posted numbers and vids to support my opinion that the MG36 is better than don't read my post. If you want to refute it, then post something supporting your opinion. I won't take your word for it and I hope no one else does either, because anyone can say anything.

Now, on to what we agreed about. 3-round burst mode on the MG36 is pretty useless, because it fires so fast it's the same thing as full-auto. It's easier to do 3-round bursts in full-auto because you can wait for the gun to settle to allow for greater accuracy.

I must be missing something. Are you firing burst for accuracy or to keep the heat down? Or both?

Re: PKM vs MG36 My Opinion

Mainly it's for accuracy. If you fire 3-round bursts or less on the PKM you can fire longer before the gun overheats but not a huge ammount. The problem with any LMG is it's inaccuracy. Since they all become pretty inaccurate at full-auto you can gain a substantial ammount of accuracy by firing in bursts with a pause inbetween. The problem with the burst fire mode on the MG36 is that it allows you to fire just as fast as full-auto, which means your accuracy isn't any greater. Also, learning to burst in full auto mode gives you more diversity in your gun. You can fire bursts for acuracy but hold down the trigger if you need to later on.

Lazy8s is right, if you fire more than 3 bullets bursts it won't overheat right away but there is a big chance you'll miss every single shot. Bursts is the key thing for somewhat average accuracy on the LMG's.

Not really, after 2 shots on full auto on either the PKM or the MG36, the thing get's no more inaccurate IN TERMS OF DEVIATION. Deviation is the cone of fire the gun has when it's being fired. HOWEVER, recoil kicks in after u fire in full auto, but recoil is EASILY controllable unless ur using a gun like the L85, so i don't see much worth in brsting with LMGs, AR on the other hand, bursting is a must.

Re: PKM vs MG36 My Opinion

The way I see it is this: On the MG36 fire full auto. With the high ROF but lower damage you need to hit the target a decent bit before it goes down. The accuracy may be lost compared to 1 or 2 shots but what you lack in accuracy you make up for in sheer number of bullets. On the PKM I fire in bursts for 2 reasons.

                            1) The gun overheats too quickly to fire full auto
                            2) It fires so slow that every shot had better count

Anyways, that's the way I see it. I have seen people use 3 round bursts to great effect with the MG36, but I tend to do very well full auto. The LMGs are really taster's choice in my opinion. I think the MG36 has the numbers backing it, and I think that with time and patience most people will see why it's better, but if you already have 100 or 200 hours played with the PKM it will probably be very awkward and hard to switch, though probably worth it in the end.

Re: PKM vs MG36 My Opinion

I guess it's worth pointing out that my play style probably differs from most support players anyway. I've got 16% accuracy with LMGs, both Lazy8s and HABO3 have a bit over 11%. That's almost 50% more hits. Probably because (like every other game I play) I'm aggressive, reckless, and constantly throwing myself into the front line.

But regardless, I'm not convinced burst fire makes a big difference just because the aim fallback being TERRIBLE. It takes a LONG time to recover accuracy with LMGs, much more so than other weapon types, to the point where I don't find burst-fire worth it at all.

I have lots of hours with PKM and even though the accuracy sucks I still like it cause of the big punch. I just started using the mg36, and today I was surprised with it's accuracy. I was shooting infantry with 3 round bursts from a prone position from one of the 2 cranes at Dalian Plant. The results were fantastics. I could tell that this is just another member of the g36 family even though it's a machine gun.
