Yeah.. I'm trying to avoid joining in on the claymore craze of late. Pretty soon it's gonna be different, and I wouldn't want to end up casually throwing a claymore here and there, only to find my teammates being shredded.

Pretty good plan from Ezikiel, problem is finding the oppertunity to use it. Probably a good tactic if the situation arose, but you wouldn't catch me deliberately getting myself seen. Too many snipers nowadays are actually capable of hitting a target... probably due largely to the L96A1. Not to mention spec-ops and medics having excellent long range capabilities, and now the support players also.
... I suppose we can still pick on the engineers and anti-tanks (as long as you can competently dodge a rocket).

As far as tricks go, that's gotta be one of the more devious I've seen. I'll be sure and give it a shot.

Is there really a difference between teh accuracy of teh M95 vs. the L96A1? I've used both and I don't notice any difference...

I basically learned my good sniping techniques from experimenting by myself. I've taught myself much and I'm glad I did.

The L96A1 feels like the best rifle to use. It has the best crosshairs, very accurate and although it wont go through glass, it reduces health to 2 bars on a body shot.

I use it exclusively

I tend to find a good spot, shoot till im seen, lay a clay then move. This way i never get killed but still dont spend the whole round sitting in some secluded hole.

The L96A1 is pure sex the few times I've tried it. (No extra unlocks for me...) I can just fire faster and more accurately than the M24, even getting good shots in at assault range. It might just be a 'feel' thing, but it sure is a good feel!

Does anyone know if there is a difference in scope magnification?

The L96 and the M24 are twice as accurate as the M95. Admitedly, that's not saying much.. but it's statistically true. Most of the M95's innacuracy comes from its crosshairs. It is, in truth, as accurate now as the M24 was before 1.2.

As for a comparison to the M24... it's very similar. Same magnification, same damage, same accuracy.

The difference is sound, crosshairs and appearance. It is also rumoured to have a better reload time.
It is indeed an improvement on the M24.

I don't use it myself. Mostly because I'm not willing to pick up Special Forces, and because it seems to make my fps drop to new lows when looking through the scope, which probably has a lot to do with my Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 :P.

Ok guys, as fellow snipers, you can help me out.

I see myself as an expert sniper. But, oddly enough, I havn't acheived my expert sniper's badge.
Now, normally I don't go out of my way to earn awards. A lot effort goes into advancing toward my long-desired 3-1 ratio and increasing my overall accuracy with my rifle.
But now, I've decided I could use some self gratification.

I've looked at the specs for it. 100h's with sniper (which I've got and got some more) and 36 kills in a round while a sniper.
After a few attempts, I've found myself struggling to get myself beyond 30 kills, and that's in a good round. The closest I've come is 34, on Karkand with a great deal of luck and success throughout the round.

Anyone who's got their expert sniper's, or knows a thing or two about earning sniper points, give me a hand?. What's the best way to go about acheiving a huge kill total in the required time?
Also, to any possible contributers, I'm trying to earn the badge legitimately. That means no vehicle whoring, no claymore spamming, etc.. only clean tactics.

not sure what else i can say to help with getting that expert badge other than use a vehicle some

now for the reason im posting
now im not sure what all has been posted between the pages 1 and 7 (i didnt feel like reading all in between)
but for the drop in bullets isnt that great really
if you check the .tweak files for each weapon you'll see that the velocity for the bullet is what sets the drop
currently all 3 sniper rifles are set to 1000 velocity
the m249 saw has its set to 500, and ive checked this out as well

i changed the saw so that it has a zoom greater than the m95 and watched its bullet drop, the bullets were hitting the ground well before it got to the target

i changed the m95 so that it fired tracer rounds and the drop it had was maybe a foot, at extreme distances

the problem with the m95 is its minimun and maximum deviation, which is obviously why the m24 and the L96 is a much better choice, even with it's abillity to shoot pilots

Sure, bullet drop aint that significant in most situations, but once you get into a decent ranged fight that involves shooting up or down, it can easily mean the difference between hit and miss, which in itself determines success.

Flying Egg. I dont know if you have Special Forces, but you can get the most kills in the shortest amount of time on Ghost Town in the Lone Belltower.
I got my Expert Badge on Sharqi btw. If I remember correctly 8 of my kills were Clays. The rest was kills from that construction crane.

And about bullet drop. It is in there. I dont know what you guys call extreme range. If it is over 400 meters than I can say in all honesty that you need to aim a lot above the target. My longest kill on a target was out from 436 meters.

Cool, wish I had the knowhow to change those kind of files and do some testing myself.

FYI, the deviation values of the M24/L96A1 is 0.005 and the M95/SVD/Type88 is 0.01. Effectively speaking the M24/L96A1 is twice as accurate as the M95, since it's cone of fire is twice as tight.

In practice, a 0.01 deviation is enough to make fairly consistent headshots on stationary targets at 200m range, as I did that quite often with M24 prior to the 1.2 deviation adjustments. The main problem with the M95 is the crosshair size, at 200m range the crosshair covers an enemies head completely and it's difficult to judge where someones head is when they are prone and 200m away, for example. 0.01 deviation is actually very accurate for a game like BF2 where 'sniping' is usually in the 100 - 300m range. If they made the crosshairs of the M95 thinner it'll make an awesome sniper rifle.

The M24 and particularly L96A1 has much better crosshairs, the Chinese Type88 has decent crosshairs as well, but a weaker 3.33x zoom. All the bolt action rifles have 5x zoom.

Not really any help there. Don't have SF, and don't intend on getting it. Best I've found so far is luck + karkand.. and I -really- don't feel like resorting to vehicle whoring. That's just cheating, and it means nothing if you can't earn your rewards legitimately.

Than I would try Sharqi on a server with some extra tickets or one that isnt maxed out with players. That way you have more time/tickets to get the neccesary kills.
