I've tested it out in Kubra Dam, firing with the M95 at explosive barrels from a distance of 215m. You know what...Even if I aimed for the lowest point that would let it explode, it exploded, at a distance of 215m. So no, I don't really believe in bullet drop. Just your incomptence.

(The Type 88, SVDragunov and M24 have the same effect).

First of, dont use the m95 it aim only half as good as the m24 and even if you aim BELOW the barrel you might get lucky due to random deviation.

Secondly 215 meters is to short to really notice any effect. Try wake and start on the artillery island as us. Then shoot the people starting at the nearest village. Sometimes they stand still then aim 0.5 m above their head and you will hit them if they dont move. The range to the flag is about 400 meters.

I have massive bullet drop problems, and most of the times I realise it's because I take care of it too much, aiming point blanc is the way to go. A LITTLE bit up maybe, but not much.

Good guide m8!
The rifle that you should use depends on what kind of sniper you'll be!
lonely wolf far in the bushes with M24 in hand or cunning fox near the battle making headshot after headshot with his SVD!
My favourite sniper rifle is...! Guess ? :)

I KEEP NOTICING IT. I'm sniping straight at heads and really own that way, I shot enemies from 600 feet away aiming straight at their head.

Sniping is dead easy, I've played the game 3 weeks now and I own Lol well.....own.....nah, but I'm doing very good!!!!

Bullet drop is proven but dont take it into account cause it's almost unnoticable.

Hehe I dont mean it was exactly 600 meters. I said feet anyway, but I dont know the real distance. Just that I have yet to experience bullet drop.

Yes it does...you just miss.

It's not bullet drop, there's just a standard deviation. If you hit or not, it's up to an alogarithm. The chances of hitting simply get smaller if the distance is increased. Some rifles are more accurate, the only difference between the accuracy is the standard deviation.

No, there is not just standard deviation, there is bullet drop too. Unlike other people constantly arguing without any proof I ran some tests and posted them, there is overwhelming evidence (see http://www.totalbf2.com/forums/showt...ht=bullet+drop ). To really notice bullet drop snipe on the US isle on Wake, you have to aim up quite a bit there when firing at ppl 400m+ away.

I tested that......wake island........didn't notice much rly....:S Just aim a TAD above it's almost nothing.

Try hitting a bloke lying down next to the sandbags with the IGLA emplacement near the north base from the island. You really need good judgement to be able to hit them. Having this is especially useful if you're trying to hit moving targets at long range aswell. I regard knowing your bullet drop as important.

The guid mentioned two approaches to sniping. Following the target or allowing the target to cross the crosshair.

I think theres a third which is something i do maybe 20% of the time. Which is moving the scope to the target very quickly and firing. So Ill put the scope on, wait for a target...maybe see how hes moving around. Then very quickly flick the crosshair to the target and fire.

The fact that you move very quickly actually makes it easier to hit the target in many cases. Its not the same as tracking the target and you dont wait for the target to get in possition, so its different to those two methods.

Yeah, those are the two main ways of taking aim that I find people using. Snap-aiming is another, but I don't find it as effective as most other techniques. A lot of it is luck.

I personally prefer to draw a bead on the target and follow him around untill he's standing still, or moving at a constant speed. It can be damned hard to hit a guy who has used up his stamina energy, and is sprinting on and off.

A good trick is to look at who is going to be moving into combat. People will stay still to shoot, right? Wait untill they do, then give them one in the forhead and help your buddy being shot at.

Oh, I'll be looking for info on the L96 when the update is released, as I'm not planning on going out and buy SF for a minor addition. If people could contribute information on it, and also on the changes being made to the accuracy of snipers, I'd be more than happy to add it into the actual guide.

Well, you would think so. This guide is aimed at those who I constantly see making mistakes that could easily be avoided. The guide might also be of use to other people in learning about the habits of a sniper and learning to counter their actions.

I'm always looking for more content and helpful advice to give anyone who it might be of use to, so feel free to extend some wisdom if you think there's more to be said.

Basically you can't have a guide telling people how to do things better without someone already knowing it. This is just to fill the gaps in people's knowledge.

you made a nice guide, but it seems to me that the M95 and SVD/type 88 have the same accuracy
