Good point about the lower server population as a method of prolonging the action and oppertunity to gain points. Now all I gotta do is find a medium-populated 64 player server with a stable number of players, on a map that promotes high fraggage..... wish me luck.

If you have the l96a1 you are best off for infantry, The bullet drop isnt much for medium-short ranges, but if you sitting on a construction tower in Omen and shooting at sum1 at beach head it will be greatly increased pay attention to that stuff like he said, Another thing if ur really good stay on the ground Most ppl will look for the highest ground to browse for a sniper so if u stay hidden by foliage on the ground you will have a greatly increased chance of killing the dude again before he picks up on ya! :) great tut dude really helped me polish and round some of my skills I already got

And you have absolutely no idea who FlyingEgg is so why dont you keep your big mouth shut.

FlyinEgg is an accomplished BF2 sniper with 61% accuracy on the Sniper-Rifle. He has more knowledge about this class than you will ever have about this whole game.

I like staying near one of the bridges on Wake and wait for people to cross it. And they always do. They make fine targets.

BTW, do you still have ghile suit when you use L96A1?

from the first post.
When trying to remain hidden, aim for the head. One hit kills prevent the enemy from learning your location via the use of damage direction.

even though u do get a haedshot if the enemy is watcing the screen he or she will see the direction of via due to the red curve that comes upon the screen.

just relocate to avoid getting knifed if u think your enemy is smart enough.
also to add about being knifed have your music sound turned down and effects up when u arnt shifting around crouch u can hear foot steps and it will save your life if your cunning enough with your pistol,rifle,claymores and grenades.also against other sniper combats with your sound set like this you'll be able to observe wether the sniper is still firing at you.

Another general tip against any one who has spotted you.
Find em Flank em **** em.

Evil Eye.. I know the building you're on top of, but I have no idea how you got up there... further investigation seems called for.
EDIT: Oh, right.. Vodnik.. somehow managed not to read that part before. Certainly seems like a great spot all the same. The uncommon ones always are .


Clbsiss.. in a contest where there are vast differences between the subjects (ie - M95 and everything else), the usefulness depends on the situation. Shooting at a chopper? M95 all the way. Making a max-distance headshot? I'll take my M24 most days of the week (though L96 is statistically better). It's a matter of preference, not how good or bad the thing is. I'm glad you love you're M95, but don't expect everyone to do the same.


Jemme, thanks for the support, good to know you're a fan.. but really, I can take criticism as it comes. Try to resist rushing in and assualting the apparently misguided, however called for it might be.

Wonton - You're skin (the guille suit for the sniper) never changes due to equipment, only if you change your class (eg. Sniper to medic will exchange guille for medic's regular outfit). L96 won't change anything appearance-wise, except for the gun itself.

And Mackman.. what I meant by 'location via damage direction' was indeed the red curve. The idea of scoring a headshot (ie, instant kill) is that they won't even receive the pretty red curve, thereby aiding in the concealment of your location.

Nice tip, too, I'll be sure and add it, it's one of my favourites in-game. Flanking is indeed one of the best bets in making your way into a better position.

I'll try to get up some screenies of my favourite sniping spots, as prompted by Evil Eye and Wonton.. keep your eyes open!

However, I have had SINGLE SHOT, head shot kills with the M-24...Depends on how close you are of course...Mostly find this shot to work picking gunners off of tank turrets and such, or...the guys who come blazing up in a truck or buggy and switch to the gunners chair to attempt taking the flag...I LOVE THAT...From a nearby hide, pick them clean...Take the kill points AND the "DEFENDED FLAG" points...Just adding that...I'm sure that's stating the obvious, sorry for that...Normally, takes 2 or 3 though, I don't disagree there...

sorry fly what i meant was that being on the recieving end of a head shot you still see the red curve and can anticipate the relocation or the still position of the sniper. (but im not sure if this is all the time)

You sure, Mack? I vaguely remember that red showing up, but I'll certainly keep my eyes open the next time I take too many bullets. At any rate, I'd imagine that if it does indeed show up, they would be too disoriented from the whole experience to get a good idea of the original direction that the damaging shot came from.
Also, it'd help via the fact that they wouldn't be able to immediately turn around and have a look. If they were dedicated enough, they would have to establish a basic idea of the origin, respawn, and proceed to hunt around, which seems fairly unlikely (unless you've developed a reputation, goddamnit)

Btw FlyingEgg, are you doing anything special in order to get that Accuracy that high? I mean do you only go for the 100% Hit every shot or does it come naturaly?

I am trying to increase my to hit/accuracy % as of late and have moved up 0.3 since last weekend. But I have to make another 5000 Hits to get anywhere near your score.

I am going for 1000 Hits this week and trying to lift my KDR to 11 : 1 by the end of this Easter weekend. KDR should be ok since I am averaging 30 : 1 atm on the sniper-rifle :) , its the Accuracy which is a bitch.

Yeah thats pretty good. I feel very ashamed of 18% overall accuracy. I think i may have to work a bit!

my accuracy is about 50% with a rifle and 18% overall. The problem is i often use the rifle then pistol method -- and the pistol isnt very accurate
