Trick of the Trade ill give you for free than; Shoot at your Quarry with 4-5 rounds of the pistol, 2 rounds will probably hit. Finish him of with the Sniper Rifle.
People will usually go prone or stand still to check where they are being shot from. The pistol rounds do minimal damage and will not give away the fact that they are being shot at by a sniper. After firing those first couple of rounds with the pistol you switch to your sniper-rifle.

My accuracy with sniper rifle is about 50%. However, the pistol is also very accurate. If you think the pistol is inaccurate try practicing with it.

By your own quote , you said you use the Rifle + Pistol combo. I said use the Pistol than Rifle combo :) Its different. Try it and especially on maps like Ghost Town I had a huge success in proning quarries like that.

By the way if this hasen' been added here it is.

            MOVE WITH YOUR TEAM MATES

I see and hear countless snipers sitting on their arses at one point were they could be shooting down medics and engineers during the heat of the battle.

As the battle progresses and you are still laying prone or crouching in one spot u may be finding it difficult to find 1 or more people to shoot at.

If you use your noggen and map you can easyily tell were the battle is by were the most of your troops are. Also if your are tactically smart enough you will hopefully know were the enemy is going after capping a flag.

If you do not MOVE WITH YOUR TEAM MATES you will be finding your self short of about 60 points (depending on your skill in other areas of sniperism).

            .................................................. ..............

If your are capping a flag and have to cover more then 2 entrances lay 2 claymores at 2 entrances were enemies WILL walk through. At the other entrance('s) get your pistol ready and use it as a small machine gun.If you hear one of your claymores go off check (straigh away) to see if their is any more enemies coming through that direction.

Thanks for reading hopes this helps.

Good points, however, it is not always best to move with your team mates. I tend to move to the side and flanks of my squad (although don't take it from me, I have no credentials whatsoever). Usually, my best games come from my squad engaging the front of the force, and me simply going off to the sides and killing their soldiers from a different angle that they are not focusing on.
If you were to think about it, I guess "ghosting" to the sides of the battle can qualify as moving with your teammates, but I guess this just clears it up.

It is not random. If you are well above a target and are aiming down on it... it will have minimal to no bullet drop. If you are horizontal it will have the bullet drop effect. If you are below the target and aiming up at it, it will have even more drop to correct for.
If you are not taking these considerations into account, I can see where it may look random.

                  Re: Success with Sniping

Eh, yeah, the accuracy thing. My sniper rifle accuracy and kd ratio is something I'm fairly obsessive about. Basically I very rarely miss a still target, normally hit constantly moving targets, and don't shoot at anything that's moving unpredictably that I know I won't hit.
I've always tried not to be one of those snipers who you see simply lying down and shooting non-stop.. you just know they're only going to succeed if they're very lucky.

Often one of the hardest things to hit is a person who's run their stamina bar down, and starts to do stop-start sprinting.. aggrivating trying to hit them, waste of ammo.

Basically take just as much time as you need to make a shot (headshot if possible) on a still target.
On a target moving at a constant rate, go for a body shot, and pistol finish. Headshot is too unlikely to work, and whistling bullets are just as much of a tip off as being shot.
Don't bother taking shots at targets moving inconsistently (eg, stop start sprinters).

Doing this should allow you to get your ratio up into the at least the upper fiftes, and lower sixty percent range.

                    Re: Success with Sniping

Hey flyingegg, do you shoot at sprinting targets? My accuracy is ~47% (slowly rising from 43% a few months ago so I'm getting better) and I find that most of my misses are trying to nail those sprinting SOBs. Still targets are obviously no problem and jogging targets are probably 50/50 for me depending on distance and angle but I rarely nail sprinting targets, unless they are running directly at or away from my POV.

Sometimes I try to be patient and wait for their stamina to run down so I can nail them while they are jogging, but then that dreaded stop/start cycle begins and as you say it is VERY annoying having the timing of your shot perfect only for the person to slow down at the last millisecond and have your shot narrowly miss.

                      Re: Success with Sniping

Well there are a lot of ways of tackling the sprinters and even the stop/start sprinters. It boils down to what class your quarry is and how far his sprint will take him (stamina). If you have been playing the game for a longer time you can fairly accurately predict where a sprinter will wind up after depleting his stamina. After that you can choose various tactics depending on the environment and distance.

Up to 150 meters you can score hits with your pistol so when I have running targets I try to get some rounds in. It doesnt really matter if they hit or not, but it usually makes people go for cover. If they dont you should empty that pistol clip in them so you at least have some less than 100% health when you wanna take a shot at them running.

If your quarry has stopped moving and went into cover you basicly have a standard non-moving shot at him. Go for the headshot, adjust for distance, and take him out. If you cannt get the headshot in try moving him with a nade or redirecting a teammate towards firing a couple of rounds on him.

If your quarry keeps on moving after he has been shot (hit) at, go for the next best option of shooting him on the run. Usually this type of player will keep on running anyways. You can choose to either Lead your aim along with the lateral movement of the quarry or you can opt for a fixed spot and let him walk into your killzone.
With both options you have to take into account the bullet time travel from your rifle towards the quarry. The numbers by themselves only tell you there is a difference but you still need to practice the lead in either case.

In all cases you can gain an advantage if you know the lay-out of your Field of Fire. Try working your way around several positions in any map and remember where it is possible to get a shot in and where not. This prevents somebody from getting away just before you take the shot. The number of times I took out a quarry in the last instance are numerous. I used that time to make sure I could Lead with allmost a 100% Accuracy.

I think Jemme's idea of the pistol-sniper technique is nothing short of brilliant. Original, too.. I've never seen it done, nor done it myself. I can imagine people not panicking nearly so much as being hit by a sniper rifle, and simply looking around, and allowing for a finishing hit. Quite brilliant indeed.

Definitely, though you should be conscious of whether the person you are shooting is wearing body armor or not. I think it takes 3 hits from a pistol + 1 sniper finishing shot (to the body) to down an armored soldier.

Usually (if a HS is unlikely) I just go for 2 sniper shots instead of the 3 pistol shots unless they are close range, I don't know about you but I find that @ 100m landing 3 pistol shots with 1 clip is a hit and miss affair, considering the target is generally moving about and such...
