Persistent servers are coming to Battlefield 2042, but maybe not in the way you wanted.

DICE put up a new news update today wherein they announce that persistent servers are coming to Battlefield 2042. Unfortunately for you, these persistent servers are only coming to Battlefield Portal. DICE says that these persistent servers have been "a much requested community feature." Persistent servers will be added to Portal as part of the upcoming 2.2 update.

Alongside yesterday's update for Battlefield 2042 came the usual new rotation of official Battlefield Portal experiences. One of those officially created and promoted modes was called Zombie Survival. In this mode, you were facing off against hordes of A.I. controlled "zombies" that were equipped only with knives. Your goal was to survive for as long as possible.

Prior to going on their holiday break, DICE added in a Battlefield 2042 Rush mode to Battlefield Portal. It proved to be a fairly popular mode, at least as far as Portal modes are concerned. It was the much enjoyed Rush mode but played out across the Battlefield 2042 maps, something that just isn't possible in the main game. Battlefield 2042 is a bad game and you should not buy it. That seems to be the prevailing thought from most fans who have played the game for any length of time since its release just a couple of days back. It's a game that is full of bugs, barren maps, idiotic Specialists, a huge focus on vehicular combat, and more missing "legacy" features than you can shake a stick at....

EA and DICE announce today that the latest entry in their popular FPS franchise is now available. That's right, Battlefield 2042 is now available to everyone regardless of which version they purchased. This should be cause for celebration, right? Uh, well, maybe not. We'll get to that in a moment.
