Re: Future Media Movie Projects (Listed here)

It is very complex when zoomed out like that. I always thought of it like a puzzle and when it's presented in front of me, so very delicate. I fear I might break it every time I change something.
I also must mention that up the final pieces it was a very practical build. However, I'm sure like most of us editors when we get tired of battling the same footage into those differently precisely calibrated layers it's time to "screw it" and stack up because you won't be going back there to edit again, and safely throw organisation of the window.

If that was difficult to understand: basically I started with 4 layers, movie screen, soundtrack, sound FX, text.... now I have 10 (there’s one more hidden below but not all are as "packed to capacity"

Amongst other things there been lots of fine tuning. One of the new things that's had a major overhaul is the new buffed up sound work, which I would be previously skipped in earlier productions, so keep an ear out. I’m recommending a 5.1 surround setup not because the option is selected for aesthetics, but because there’s many separate sounds configured and it can get very loud if everything goes through the one channel.

The release is soon, but I still cannot give release dates as part of the publish involves working around others to make sure no people complain about the availability.

        Hello,

Many people haven't heard from us for quite some time now, so here's a small update. The good news is, the movie is still in the works. The bad news is we have to postpone the release. Because it's such a huge project and because We are constantly tweaking the story, adding new ideas-deleting others and so on, we have no release date yet.

So here is a new screenshot, check back soon for a bigger update :)

            Hi, well i though this would be the right place to post this;

i am about to do a movie on Reality Mod, Steel Thunder the name is, and right now im setting up servers actors, and voice actors, and will begin when ever my server is ready, the movie is going to be about a USMC Attack Chopper partoling around a specific areas, and they encounter an unknown force which will be PLA, and they get shotdown, then the movie is going to intrduce the main characters, voice actors, maybe three and they heard about the shotdown of the chopper and they wanted to help to go look for it, so they take a small convoy to the airfield, takeoff and land to a base near the crashsite, take tanks ofcourse :), and a few choppers to go look for this uknown forces and the crashsite, after a while they run into a huge force of PLA, get overrun, retreat and only those main characters stay behind to go to the crashsite and im still thinking about the end and what should happen, so i havent started filming yet so, if you want to help out, cool.

well thats it for now, keep you updated if you guys want

Re: Future Media Movie Projects (Listed here)

Smiley, I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone here when I say that I'm greatly anticipating "An American Baby In Iraq"! What's more, I feel genuinely bad for failing to respond to your most recent post.

I'm guessing everyone's either been too preoccupied with their projects lately or struggling to make progress and therefore reluctant to provide updates and contribute to this thread. I've definitely been having a hard time staying on top of things and simultaneously making the desired amount of progress, so quite a few things have been neglected, including my contributions here.

I am sorry to you and to others, such as NeoRicen, Little_Donkey, StRuPiE et al who have taken the time to post here because I've thoroughly enjoyed reading the updates and should have told you so. I was particularly happy to read your most recent post and I'm certain anyone familiar with your previous projects felt the same way.

I'm still developing a BF2 trailer (of sorts) and, right now, trying to learn Sony Vegas and enough of the BF2 code to do the kind of modifications this project requires. My biggest problem, as always, is my inability to be satisfied with ideas! I keep coming up with ideas and shots and almost immediately deciding, "Nope; that's not good enough. I have to do better." Eventually, I'll just have to do what I did with "Khalid's Surprise" ... call a friend and arrange another $300 bet. As in, get it done by a certain date or pay up!

Once this project is complete, I like to think I'll have the knowledge required to do future projects at a much faster rate; it's just all the learning that's slowing me down. :p

Again, though, it was great to hear from you and to read your update. The rest of us should find a way to hold you to a two-week deadline so that the movie is definitely ready by mid-July!

Well smiley, ill post a small update as you requested

For Chase At Fushe Pass, things have been going slowly. I was able to find a small scene to film without using any mods or waiting for the next EA patch (to revise their decision to the no unlocks in unranked servers). As soon as EA releases the new beta patch, i will start filming again. After that, it is only the modification scenes that need to be filmed, as well as sound design..

Along with the small scene, I also did one reshoot. I ended up not liking the original overhead shot of the blackhawk and replaced it with a more suited panned angle:

(By the way.. Looking forward to your movie, smiley.. I hope i can learn something from it)

                        Looks great, guys!

An update on "Echo Squad: Sharqi Liberation" from the C22 Clan:

All "filming" is complete. I'm on the hunt for the sound of a vehicle taking off in the dirt. Aside from that, just watching it over and over and tweaking. A few ideas sprout, and we add and take away. You know the drill. Right? Maybe it's just me. Nevertheless, it should be out soon. Screenshots to follow...

Here they is. My apologies, as I kinda went screenshot happy...

Looking good donkey, I just hope Sands of Fire is more than just pretty effects, I'm sure you've answered this somewhere but what do you use to get those effects.

We are putting a lot of work in the story, Thats why the movie isn't out yet.
Not because the effects take so long, but because we are constantly tweaking the story.

How do i get those effects?
A lot of thinking, compositing and matte painting :)
