BlitzWarTank, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons.

Was that thread for the Sir. Community only?

Thankyou for reporting this, I guess it is locked for Sir. only, being in the filming section. I'll just tell you that your not missing anything much in that thread. Just a few minor details about the plot and such.

You already started filming on your next movie Xalias? Didn't expect you to start a fresh one so quickly after Burning Sands...

I'm starting to focus a bit more on quantity, which is doesn't mean I'll be spending less time in production, just as soon one project finishes I'll more or less jump straight into another.
Besides the fact, Burning Sands wasn't really my idea. Though I did play a small part in introducing many unscripted small parts that were missing in the story to help, however I can't solve the overwhelming issues, and much worse... the bad acting which I only hope didn't scar my image too bad.

This project will be my first idea as a director with actors, etc.
New territory and more responsibility, as I follow the trend that more and more freelance editors go into the full control of their productions.

I have the whole summer break in the UK to work on it, and that’s about 4 more weeks I think. That includes a 1 week holiday away too, so minus 1 week. – argh! so many “weeks”

Another reason is that I'm so damn keen on getting this out, moving on the next project, getting that out before it's too late. Although the releases are on very wide time spread in reality.

I'm on the road to finding that quality : quantity ratio, in which time I'm also practising speeding up my work flow in the editing programs despite my computers attempts at counterattacking me with slow processing.

            Just some directorial advice:

-tell your actors what to do in detail

-perform it in front of them to get the best results

            -do multiple takes

-act as much as possible, if only one character in forground of shot do it yourself, you'll get exactly what you want that way for the most important character

-keep shots short, from "action" to "cut" should be kept short, less things can go wrong that way and if you have to do it again it's not such a big deal. This is especially important if using BattleLauncher as you don't want to render too much useless stuff (will need to manually record short demos in console not just using round demos).

-A good way to keep the amount of actors you need down is in large action scenes unless a camera angle will show all the characters at once just film what you will see in one shot and the rest in another shot.
eg. If a car is driving down a street and then gets shot at you can film the car driving for the first little while seperately then film the bit where they start shooting later if you can't get all the actors.

Focus on short, multiple takes, it's clear in alot of movies they just did things once or did too much at once or maybe did the whole thing in one round and scoured the demo with fraps which is a waste of time.

Hey strupie, i noticed that you said the " Zipshot effect" in here a few times, and ive been trying to firgure it out how to do it, well first i have a clip and lets say in the clip i move slowly from a car to a person and what i do is in vegas i speed it up from when my camera moves from person to car, but its not fast enough, how do people do it?

Re: Future Media Movie Projects (Listed here)

Well, there are various techniques for it and though we are not using it in Sands of Fire (not the kind of effects we want to do) I've tested it several times.

The easiest way to do it (for me) is to record your shot in slowmotion then speed it up in vegas... in that way your cameramovement remains smooth and the trick is... find the right speed (play a bit with the velocity) and then add radial blur to the shot. If you do it correctly you have a smooth travel from place A to B with a blurry outframe (the middle is unblurred). This is what most editors call a "zipshot". If you want more details about it I'm sure Xalias, Ie_Smiley or [C22]yrethguad can help you with it because they've sucesfully used it in their movies.

                Cheers.

Yes, we are working very hard on it the last few weeks. Little_donkey has done some impressive effectsshots recently and I'm wrapping up parts1 and 2 as we speak, remixing music and adding sound effects. Because Donkey is on vacation right now the project is on hold but as soon as he returns we will start shooting the last part (biggest part of the movie). So we still have alot of work todo. But this gives me more time to tweak! The toughest part is to cope with the heat in my room, man... why does it have to be so hot this time around :)

Ive been busy with AE latly, and im going to start shooting my movie very soon, just need to get things ready, (servers, people), it will take a while, im still working on the title, what to name it. i want the movie to be about good 15 to 20 mins. Well i did this recently; http://media.putfile.com/TestingAE im going to use simular layers but what do you think of this one? too many effects or too much glow percentage? i think its allright, just wanna know peoples opinion on it

oh and on this one, i replaced this original sound to one of the sniper sounds in Hitman 3

My opinion goes with what I'm sure StRuPiE and Little_Donkey will testify, it's all very well knowing you can bloom-ify an image. But what the time should go into now is story and scripting work.
Sure there's nothing wrong with learning many steps ahead in the software, but it's when you don't have the experience in shooting and directing is the real test which you can only get from going into production, putting down the foundations before the glitter.

Speaking of your effects, a think you need more blending from the original source movie and effects. The light is filling the horizon on all sides (supposing the sun is directly above) and it's contrasting massively, especially on such a dark map such as oilfields, it doesn't make any logical sense why the sky is blooming away and the ground is still in pitch black.
                            - hope that helps. :)

Certainly makes for a number of good screens though, like any overblown effect that looks great as a framed image, only when you put it in animation do thing usually look wrong. :hmm:

thanks for the input on that, i do agree about the glow and the ground, the overall look of the map is going to be that dark, but im going to use lightning and ill draw a mask around it putting those green looking glow around it. should come out pretty nice, and the script/story is all good to me, im still thinking on the end and what should happen.
